Chapter 14: Schemes Foiled

The several women had been excitedly bustling around until midnight before finally settling down to sleep. This was only because Lin Xinghai said, "Get some rest early; tomorrow we need to be in top form for work."

However, what tormented Lin Xinghai was that at 5 a.m. the next day, the women were already up, grooming and dressing themselves. They didn’t hesitate to each buy a bucket of hot water for this purpose. The sporadic sounds of changing clothes made it impossible for Lin Xinghai to fall back asleep.

The women had used a few pieces of cloth to cover the balcony, turning it into an impromptu bathing area. But that wasn’t the worst part. What troubled Lin Xinghai even more was that they went in to bathe two or three at a time, and from time to time, snippets of their conversations drifted through.

At exactly 6 a.m., Liu Miaomiao, having finished freshening up, gently tapped him on the shoulder. “Time to get up!”

Just as he finished, a logistics drone flew into the dormitory through the balcony, suspending six meal boxes beneath it.

“Ah Xing! Breakfast is here!” Liu Miaomiao called.

“Coming,” Lin Xinghai replied, putting away his toiletries and walking inside.

Taking the meal box from Liu Miaomiao’s hand, Lin Xinghai realized his was a premium nutritious meal worth six points, while the others held basic meals worth only one point each.

“You all...” Lin Xinghai was at a loss for words.

“Moved by our kindness? How do you plan to repay us?” Wang Yao leaned in playfully.

“Just eat your breakfast!” Lin Xinghai’s fleeting feeling of gratitude vanished instantly as he retorted grumpily.

“Hehe!”

As the clock neared 7 a.m., Luo Jie arrived at Room 301. He glanced at the women, who were clearly well-groomed, and nodded approvingly. “Since you're ready, let’s head to City Hall now! Make sure to perform well.”

“Yes, sir!”

“Don’t worry, Captain Luo,” the women chimed in. “We won’t embarrass you or Ah Xing.”

The group soon left their residence.

Less than ten minutes after their departure, Huai Feifu arrived with the Four Pillars of the Axe Gang and some elites on the street below the dormitory.

“All right, everything goes as planned. Ah Shi, you two will lure those five beauties to the factory under the pretext of recruiting employees. No problem?” Huai Feifu asked two young men in suits beside him.

These two thugs had undergone meticulous selection and an overnight grooming process. Anyone seeing them now would think they were legitimate business agents.

“Boss, rest assured. We’ve had a crash course all night and won’t slip up. Plus, since they’re eager to find jobs, as long as we offer good enough wages, they’ll be tempted,” Zhou Shi replied promptly.

“Good. Xiao Wang, how’s the factory setup?” Huai Feifu turned to Wang Damao.

“We rented the factory for half a day and put all the official workers on leave, replacing them with our gang members. Once those five beauties step inside, we can quietly control them without raising any suspicion,” Wang Damao said confidently.

Huai Feifu nodded, then turned to the Four Pillars. “After the five ladies are lured away, rush in and eliminate that mercenary. Don’t let him escape. Can you handle it?”

“Boss, don’t worry. I can move at 28 points speed; there’s no way he can get away,” one thug said with a smile, twirling a dagger in his hand.

The others wore confident grins, utterly dismissing the white pig mercenary.

Together, the Four Pillars were unbeatable unless their target had undergone gene enhancement.

“Good. After the mission, get out quickly. For the aftermath, I’ll arrange someone to take the fall for you during the security team’s investigation.”

The plan was set into motion. The two suited thugs straightened their collars, put on friendly smiles, and headed toward the dormitory.

But just five minutes later, they returned looking glum.

“What’s wrong?” Huai Feifu’s heart sank as he hurriedly asked.

“No one’s in Room 301. I asked around, and they said those women left ten minutes ago,” Zhou Shi replied with a grim expression.

Huai Feifu was speechless.

At that moment, everyone felt like their punch had landed on cotton — utterly frustrating.

They had prepared all night, yet the women had simply left ten minutes early, dodging their entire trap.

“Boss, what now?” The atmosphere froze for a few seconds before Wang Damao asked weakly.

“Execute Plan B! When they return to the dorm, we’ll storm in to snatch them and kill that mercenary. The cleanup will be troublesome, but I have connections and can handle it,” Huai Feifu said, swallowing his frustration.

Of course, Lin Xinghai and his group had no idea they had just narrowly escaped a crisis.

After arriving at City Hall, with Luo Jie’s introduction, Liu Miaomiao and the others met with Le Cheng, the head of Human Resources.

“Old Luo, I thought you were joking last night! I didn’t expect it really was five beauties. This makes things easier,” Le Cheng exclaimed upon seeing Liu Miaomiao and the others.

They then followed the usual procedure: submitting applications, taking a written test, and interviews.

These steps were merely formalities. As long as they didn’t perform terribly, they would pass.

Moreover, Liu Miaomiao and her friends were outstanding — not only beautiful but also eloquent.

Even without pulling strings, they could have stood out among thousands.

After about half an hour, the entire onboarding process was completed, and at that moment, Liu Miaomiao and the others officially became City Hall staff.
