Chapter 49: Spider Extermination (Part VI)
"Do you really think your Nen ability can hit us?"
Hajun smiled. He had already witnessed Feitan's Nen ability, Rising Sun, in the manga. It was indeed a tremendously powerful Nen ability with overwhelming might. But to Hajun, who wielded the Sword of Fire, it was entirely harmless.
Huh? Wait a second...
Whether it was his imagination or not, the surrounding temperature began to plummet drastically.
Even though he was standing right next to a blazing sea of fire, Hajun could still feel the drastic change in temperature. It was not an illusion; a Nen ability was at work!
A massive amount of crystalline snowflakes continuously swirled and fluttered around Feitan. The ground beneath his feet had frozen solid, and the surrounding flames had been extinguished, yet this sub-zero temperature had no effect on Feitan whatsoever.
The Transmuter Nen ability, Unforgiven, materialized Nen into a full-body outfit covered in conical spikes. It provided formidable defense and protected Feitan from being caught in the fallout of his own Nen ability. The cost was that his movement speed while wearing this outfit would drop drastically, making every step an arduous struggle. This Nen ability served as the prerequisite for his offensive Nen abilities: Rising Sun, Pain Packer: Ground of Frozen Blood, and Lightning Messenger.
And the swirling snow alongside the plummeting temperature originated from Feitan's offensive Nen ability, Ground of Frozen Blood!
The Transmuter Nen ability, Ground of Frozen Blood, transmuted Nen into a multitude of super-low-temperature frozen blood spheres, gradually altering the environment of the battlefield. Once engulfed by the low-temperature zone modified by these frozen blood spheres, everything would be frozen solid. This Nen ability used the physical pain Feitan suffered and the anger in his heart as fuel, with its effectiveness scaling in direct proportion to them.
Hajun scooped up Kurapika, who was unable to move. With his speed, he could escape the range of the frozen blood plain in an instant; Feitan's ultimate move was utterly meaningless to him.
Bang!
A tremendous force suddenly slammed into his side. A figure tackled Hajun at the waist, crashing heavily into the side, while Kurapika tumbled to the ground.
Disheveled and covered in blood, Nobunaga looked like a malicious ghost. Drawing on an unknown source of strength, he locked his arms tightly around Hajun to prevent him from escaping. Nobunaga's vocal cords had long since been torn, but at this very moment, he let out a roar born from the depths of his soul:
"Kill!!!"
"Kill!!!"
"Kill!!!"
"Nobunaga..." Feitan's eyes instantly turned red. He understood Nobunaga's intent; Nobunaga was telling him to kill both the wielder of the Nen-Slaying Blade and himself along with the enemy.
The speed of the frozen blood spheres revolving around Feitan accelerated, and the white frozen plain rapidly expanded outward.
Hajun flipped his hand, materializing a golden cruciform sword that he drove straight down through Nobunaga's back. The blade, wreathed in golden flames, pierced all the way through his chest from the heart area, yet the strength in Nobunaga's arms did not diminish in the slightest; instead, it grew even more powerful.
Tsk... Hajun frowned slightly. The cruciform sword in his hand vanished, and grabbing a handful of Nobunaga's hair, he drove his knee upward wrapped in Nen, slamming it straight into Nobunaga's face.
Once, twice, three times...
Nobunaga's head was already battered beyond recognition, and his breath was completely gone, but his arms remained locked around Hajun, refusing to let him go.
Crack! Snap!
Hajun forcefully ripped off Nobunaga's arms. The moment he broke free, he discovered that his surroundings had already been enveloped by a sky full of snowflakes, crystal clear and sparkling like a fairyland.
"Ground of Frozen Blood!!"
With Feitan's furious roar, all the snowflakes burst open simultaneously, and the entire rooftop of the building was instantly engulfed by intense freezing qi.
Even Chrollo and Hisoka, who were currently in fierce combat, sensed the freezing qi and vibrations coming from the roof overhead.
The blazing sea of fire on the upper floors of the Cemetery Building was completely extinguished, and a chilling desolation shrouded the upper-floor ruins.
After a long while, the freezing mist gradually dissipated. Feitan stood swaying unsteadily in place. The full-body outfit on his body had already dissolved into dispersing Nen, and his entire skin was dyed a bruised purple by the frost.
The corpses of Phinks and Nobunaga had been frozen into frost-covered ice statues, which then shattered apart into a pile of debris with a rattling sound.
Where are the Nen-Slaying Blade and the chain user... Feitan looked around tremblingly, but could not find a trace of those two figures.
At that moment, the sound Feitan least wanted to hear came from directly above his head.
"What an impressive Nen ability. I admit I underestimated you a bit."
Looking up, he saw two figures floating in mid-air amidst the freezing mist.
Hajun was suspended in the air, holding Kurapika by the arm. Neither of them showed any signs of being frosted by the freezing qi, and hovering around them were four stone spheres emitting a faint fluorescent glow.
Strange symbols glowing with golden light were engraved on the surfaces of the stone spheres. The spheres slowly unfolded to reveal short, slender limbs, huge compound eyes, and sharp mouthparts. It turned out they were four strange, stone-like insects. Their previous stone-sphere appearance was merely the form they took when curled up into a ball, and the symbols on their dorsal shells grew brighter as they stretched out their bodies.
The four insect beasts were positioned directly above Hajun's head and at three points beneath his feet, forming a regular tetrahedron. Connections of light sparked between the insect beasts, and four barriers of light formed an absolute defense space, blocking all freezing qi and coldness outside the defensive boundary.
Mythological Armament Catalog activated, deploying [Shield]—[Insect Shield: Light Egg]!
[Insect Shield: Light Egg] possessed an absolute defense barrier capable of isolating any hostile Nen attack, functioning as floating shields for automated defense; at the same time, they could perform highly effective healing on living organisms; they could dispel any type of curse and misfortune; and when coming into contact with a living organism, they could apply [Protective Sealing] and [Forced Downgrading] effects according to the user's will.
[Light Egg], a powerful divine artifact that could be considered top-tier even within mythological systems, was Hajun's reliance for 'returning home'. As long as he possessed its power, even if he was suppressed by the World Will after returning to Earth, Hajun could still rely on it to banish the misfortunes plaguing his parents, and then use [Forced Downgrading] to lower his own power level to a standard acceptable by the World Will.
And the current tetrahedral absolute defense space posture was a technique Hajun modified based on the beast magic of the Dragon Emperor Beilarn from the manga 3x3 Eyes—
[Four-Heaven Holy Essence Rebound]!
The effect was unexpectedly good. Not only did it completely block out the freezing qi transformed from Nen, but it could even filter out toxic smoke and dust, automatically adjust the temperature, and even allow him, the user, to briefly levitate in mid-air.
Looking at Feitan below, whose Nen was completely exhausted, Hajun commanded the [Light Egg] to descend slowly onto the frost-covered ground. One of the light eggs attached itself to the back of his hand, beginning to continuously draw upon his Nen, while the other three flew toward the severed stumps of Kurapika's legs. A glowing radiance grew brighter, and the rudimentary shape of bones began to emerge from the severed stumps, followed by nerves and blood vessels.
As long as the user's Nen was sufficient, the Light Egg could continuously deliver potent healing, making even the regeneration of severed limbs effortless.
"Originally, this [Light Egg] was prepared for fighting Isaac Netero, but you forced it to make its debut early. You can be proud of that."
Hajun walked up to Feitan, his tone gentle. Though he completely despised the actions and methods of the Phantom Troupe, Feitan's strength had earned him a modicum of respect.
However, Feitan showed no reaction whatsoever.
Taking a closer look, Hajun discovered that the other's breath had already stopped, his corpse standing rigidly in place.
Casually shattering Feitan's heart area, Hajun glanced at Kurapika, who was undergoing treatment, and then shifted his gaze downward. He could sense Chrollo and Hisoka engaged in a fierce battle on the lower floor.
Over on the Zoldyck side, Silva Zoldyck and Zeno Zoldyck had been dispatched, so dealing with the Troupe members encumbered by two dead weight should not be a problem.
Then, that leaves you...
Chrollo Lucilfer.
