Chapter 41 Slaughter Him!

The words fell, and Gavin slammed forward against the driver's seat of the TRX.

Eugene leaped directly into the back seat, pushed aside the large backpack wrapped in a quilt, grabbed his shotgun, and pulled down the window.

"Fucking hell, chase him! I'm going to knock his teeth down!"

Cursing, Eugene thrust his upper body out of the rear window, holding his weapon and gazing into the distance.

Lacking an eight-times scope, he could only vaguely make out the McLaren as it sped through the oak-lined path in front of the mansion, rushed onto the road within the residential area, and barrelled all the way toward Route 283.

At the same time, Gavin slammed his foot on the accelerator, and the TRX roared, spewing black smoke.

"Old Mac, keep up with me!"

He shouted his final words to Madison, who had already scrambled into the driver's seat of the RV, before charging straight into the descending circular driveway.

Seeing himself left dozens of meters behind by Gavin, Madison stomped on the gas pedal and shouted to the people inside.

"Cop, watch the window! Doris, take the kid and hide—get into the bathroom!"

Mid-sentence, the RV plunged into the roundabout at breakneck speed, generating a massive centrifugal force that caused Doris and the child to tumble uncontrollably to the floor.

William braced himself against the sofa, pulled Winnie up, and pointed toward the floor.

"Crawl! Crawl!"

Hearing William's advice, Doris and Winnie stumbled and crawled, finally managing to reach the shower room, where they closed the door and began to pray nervously.

Meanwhile, as Gavin rushed out of the roundabout, he glanced into the rearview mirror and slightly reduced his speed.

Once the RV appeared in the mirror, Gavin maintained a distance of nearly thirty meters ahead of it, accelerating in tandem with the RV.

Plunging into the affluent neighborhood, Gavin struggled to peer through the flashing street-side buildings toward the direction of the villa district.

Eugene stared fixedly at the McLaren ahead and shouted from the back seat.

"Fuck, that asshole just bolted onto the main road!"

"That means the zombies will completely flood onto the main road, too!"

As Gavin replied, a scattering of zombies could already be seen along the street.

Seeing this, Eugene pulled the lever to chamber a round and roared at the top of his lungs.

"You just focus on driving! I'm going to turn this damn rich neighborhood completely upside down!"

With that, he thrust his shotgun straight out the window and aimed at a Land Rover parked by the side of the road.

Noticing Eugene's action, Gavin yelled furiously at him.

"Put that gun down and don't you dare fucking shoot! We are not the primary target for the zombies right now!"

"Can't you hear that the McLaren up ahead is still shooting? He's the zombies' primary target! We just need to charge through this horde before they block the road, and we'll be safe."

"If you dare pull any other stunts that make us the primary target for the zombies, I'll let the little cop cry over your corpse until her eyes run dry!"

As his voice trailed off, Gavin held the steering wheel with his left hand, raised his Python revolver with his right, and aimed the muzzle straight at Eugene's head.

Eugene froze for a fraction of a second, then spat aggressively out the window.

"Bah! Don't point that gun at me, fuck! Just tell me what the hell to do!"

With that, Eugene pulled the shotgun back inside, staring bitterly out the left window with a furious expression.

Gavin withdrew his pistol, keeping his eyes on the road ahead while simultaneously monitoring Eugene in the rearview mirror.

At this moment, although there were a few zombies on the right side of the road, the majority of the affluent district's horde remained concentrated on the left, surging diagonally toward the main thoroughfare.

Gavin was now less than three hundred meters away from the horde.

And the horde was only about forty-five meters away from the main road.

Seeing the zombies drawing closer and closer to the road, Eugene anxiously looked left and right.

After enduring a few seconds of silence, he irritably slapped his shotgun and asked,

"Do we really have to take this risk here? Dammit, if that bastard driving the McLaren wants to run, let him run! Once he's gone, we can lure the zombies away!"

"And then?"

Hearing this, Gavin retorted immediately.

"And then we just follow right behind him, cleaning up the rest of the mess they leave behind?"

"Don't forget, the wealthy district isn't our final hurdle. Further ahead is the Koska Airport, followed by Richard Town and the Lakeside Hotel district!"

"I can control our actions so we don't end up blocking the road."

"But if the McLaren keeps pushing forward, I have no idea what kind of trouble he might stir u—"

Rat-tat-tat!

Crash...

Gavin's words were cut short by the sound of gunfire and shattering glass.

His eyes widened as he looked to his right. Two large holes had suddenly appeared in the TRX's windshield, and bullets had even pierced clean through the passenger seat.

"Fuck!"

Gavin's hands instinctively jerked the steering wheel, causing the TRX to swerve violently twice.

"Holy shit!"

In the back seat, Eugene cursed viciously while scrambling rapidly into the front passenger seat, demanding,

"The glass is shattered! Can you even see the road?!"

"I'm fine, kick the glass out!" Gavin snapped back instantly.

"Copy that!"

Eugene roared, raising his foot and kicking violently against the shattered front windshield.

Rat-tat-tat!

Gunfire rang out once more. This time, the TRX's right rearview mirror was blown off, and a fresh, massive hole appeared in the right side of the windshield.

Eugene flinched, shrinking his neck at the sound of the bullets, but his legs didn't stop, kicking the glass over and over again.

While Eugene battered the windshield, Gavin poked his head out of the side window to check the road ahead, glancing briefly at the left side of the street.

They were now a hundred and ten meters away from the zombie horde, and because the zombies were running diagonally, they were roughly twenty-eight meters away from the road.

After confirming the distance, Gavin pressed his lips into a thin line.

He figured the zombies wouldn't be their problem anymore.

The problem, however, was that they now had an even bigger one: the McLaren, five hundred meters ahead, continuously firing shots at them!

In the passenger seat, Eugene continued to kick the glass while lying across the seat and cursing wildly.

"Motherfucker! That son of a bitch is trying to trap us and the zombies together in this rich neighborhood! To hell with the rich, I ought to—!"

"Kill him!"

Gavin cut Eugene off, roaring the command.

Hearing this, Eugene paused his kicking and glared at Gavin in disbelief.

"What did you say?"

"I said once we pass the horde, we're going to catch up to him and slaughter him!"

Rat-tat-tat!

While Gavin was shouting at Eugene, another volley of bullets came whistling through, making both of them tense up.

Fortunately, luck was on their side this time. Since Eugene was lying down while kicking the glass, the bullets passed right by his legs and embedded themselves in the seatback a mere fifteen centimeters above his head.

"Fuck! Fucking fuck, fuck, fuck!!!"

Eugene's curses tumbled out in an uninterrupted stream.

Meanwhile, Gavin slammed his foot harder on the accelerator, gritting his teeth as he watched the zombie horde on the left, now running almost parallel to them.

As soon as he confirmed they had outpaced the horde, he let out a mighty roar.

"Damn it! I'm speeding up. The only way to make him keep his hands on the wheel and stop shooting at us is to force him to speed up right along with us!"

"Fuck it, you're the boss!"

Eugene nodded with a string of curses, then redoubled his efforts against the glass.

With the glass already riddled and weakened by the gunfire, Eugene delivered three more heavy kicks, and the entire front windshield finally shattered and flew outward.

The broken glass cascaded to the ground under the momentum, landing with a loud crash before being crushed beneath the tires of the RV trailing closely behind.

At this point, the RV's speed had gradually climbed to one hundred and eighty kilometers per hour, yet even so, five or six zombies still managed to brush against its rear.

Of course, it was just a glancing blow, and the RV successfully and safely outran the horde.

However, having passed the horde, the RV would never be able to catch up to the TRX again.

In that instant, Gavin jammed the accelerator all the way to the floorboards. In a mere two and a half seconds, the TRX rocketed to a staggering speed of two hundred and fifty kilometers per hour.

As the TRX continued to accelerate, the distance between it and the McLaren rapidly shrank to around three hundred meters.

Seeing this, the McLaren also began to accelerate past two hundred and thirty kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, Eugene crouched low in the passenger seat, pulled out his revolver, and started returning fire at the McLaren.

Bang, bang, bang!

The gunshots rang out continuously, but they didn't come anywhere near hitting the McLaren's body.

Eugene lowered his weapon and cursed bitterly.

"I should've fucking brought a rifle!"

"Don't worry, we're going to catch him!"

Gavin gripped the steering wheel tightly with his left hand and unloaded a string of shots at the McLaren using his Colt Python.

Once the magazine was empty, Gavin tossed the gun to Eugene and threw a handful of loose rounds from his pocket into his lap.

"Reload!"

The words barely left his lips before Gavin shifted gears for another burst of acceleration, pushing the TRX to its absolute limit of two hundred and ninety kilometers per hour.

The speedometer stalled for a brief second before slowly creeping up kilometer by kilometer, and the distance between them and the McLaren rapidly closed down to roughly two hundred and thirty meters.
