Chapter 20: The Success of Interstellar Shen Yu!
Aside from that, there was only a pristine white single bed, equipped with a translucent barrier; it was also a virtual reality interface pod. Other furniture was not absent, but rather folded away and hidden. This was his home within this interstellar civilization, located on a terraformed planet named Sain-Er.
The room appeared pleasant: clean, bright, tidy, and spotless. Looking at it, it was hard to imagine that the people of this era were currently shrouded in the repression and despair brought about by war.
The enemy of human civilization was a race known as the "Ethereals." They were a unique species that had abandoned their physical bodies, with every individual in their civilization existing as data waves. They possessed immensely powerful technological accumulations in the fields of spirit, biology, and information. At the very beginning of the war, the first wave of attacks alone had driven nearly all the leaders of human civilization at the time into madness.
The situation then had been extremely perilous, and Interstellar Shen Yu still remembered the chaos of those days. Fortunately, the authorities had not been entirely oblivious to the threat from the stars; they had made certain preparations—an administrative AI named "Hope."
The enemy was not adept at computer technology. When the management hierarchy collapsed, the AI known as the "Goddess of Hope," following established protocols, stepped forward. It rapidly reinforced order and replaced the basic management functions of the leadership, while simultaneously launching a reserve management training program. It was only because of this that the war had continued to this day, rather than ending in destruction twelve years ago.
Yet, even so, the front lines suffered defeat after defeat, reaching a point where even a rare natural human like Interstellar Shen Yu was forced to head to the battlefield. Heading to the front lines at such a time was almost certain death. But now, things were different.
"Xiao Yi," Interstellar Shen Yu took a deep breath, called out to his personal AI, and continued without hesitation, "Help me contact the Goddess of Hope on an emergency channel."
"Master, I do not detect that you are in danger. Summoning the Goddess of Hope under false pretenses will result in administrative penalties."
The intelligent capabilities of an ordinary person's personal AI were already at least several hundred years ahead of the world where the original Shen Yu resided. Unfortunately, although the enemy could not breach the AI’s programming from within, they could violently sever connections and simulate command signals, leveraging their technological superiority in the information domain to prevent AI robots from completely replacing humans on the front lines.
"Confirm the call to the Goddess of Hope!" Interstellar Shen Yu shouted again.
"Understood, Master."
Within a very short time, the voice of his personal AI butler shifted into another, more gentle, yet more authoritative female voice.
"Citizen 1478, you are calling the Goddess of Hope via an emergency channel. What is the reason for your call?"
Interstellar Shen Yu recognized that this was a manifestation of the Goddess of Hope. Under normal circumstances, one could only call when encountering danger or making a discovery vital to regional security. Fabricating a reason would result in punishment. However, Interstellar Shen Yu felt no nervousness; he was fully prepared.
Following his plan, he spoke directly: "I have intelligence regarding the hope for human victory that needs to be reported. All relevant content is stored in this memory chip. I demand the highest level of protection for all content within this chip!"
After speaking, he physically connected the memory chip to his personal AI butler. In an instant, the Goddess of Hope identified the entire contents of the chip. It was the intelligence regarding the "Multi-Dimensional Doomsday Civilization Mutual Aid Association" that Interstellar Shen Yu had fabricated using the Gray Mist. It included everything from what he saw and heard when stepping into the Doomsday Association, to meeting a member from a certain Earth civilization, to establishing a preliminary cooperation deal involving "monsters." Most of it was fabricated; a small part was true.
Only now did Interstellar Shen Yu feel a trace of tension. The results would depend on this.
The next moment, the AI's voice changed. It was the same voice as before, but the tone had become more authentic. This was the hallmark of the main entity appearing.
"I have not detected any traces of fabrication in the memory chip you submitted. However, to ensure authenticity, I require you to record yourself using the basic ability of a Gray Mist Walker three times—teleportation."
The next moment, Interstellar Shen Yu's figure vanished, appeared, vanished, and appeared again—a full three times. Everything was fully recorded by the camera in the room.
The Goddess of Hope seemed to fall silent for a moment. But the efficiency of an AI was beyond human reach; in that brief silence, the main entity of the Goddess of Hope had performed countless calculations and arrived at a conclusion.
"I judge that the probability of the Multi-Dimensional Doomsday Civilization Mutual Aid Association existing is currently as high as 83.7 percent. Citizen 1478, you have truly brought hope to the entire civilization. I have elevated your status to that of a top-tier researcher, and your security clearance has been upgraded accordingly. A floating ship will arrive in six minutes and thirteen seconds. Both you and your family must change your residence immediately!"
It worked!
Interstellar Shen Yu clenched his fist tightly. The Gray Mist was truly invincible! The biggest hurdle in this matter was not proving the existence of the Association—after all, the Association was real, and his own abilities, along with the live Eye-Monster he brought back, were the best proof. The difficulty lay in how to avoid exposing the fact that the Association consisted of only three people to date. The existence of the Gray Mist had solved this perfectly!
A moment later, a loud knocking came from the door. It was Interstellar Shen Yu's sister.
"Brother, brother!" His sister's communication even came through a step earlier, filled with incredible, joyful screams. "What did you do? Brother, how did you suddenly become a civilization-level researcher? Oh my god! Oh my god!"
A top-tier researcher was a civilization-level researcher. Before the war, one only qualified for such a title if their research had a significant impact on the entire civilization, granting them high status and massive social resources, including security protection. In the current state of war, when the Goddess of Hope deemed an individual's importance potentially impactful to the entire civilization, it had the authority to promote them directly to a top-tier researcher and provide protection through corresponding protocols. This protection even extended to their family!
Interstellar Shen Yu had been born into a natural human family. In this era of low marriage rates and scarce natural humans, he had a very happy family. If not for the war, he could have enjoyed his life to the fullest in this technologically advanced age.
War had changed everything. But now, it was different.
