Chapter 11: The Prison Guard Investigation Team
When Lu Xiao awoke, two days had already passed.
By then, the nutrient solution in the tank had been completely absorbed by him.
At the same time, the tank door slowly opened.
The doctor stood not far away, smiling as he looked at him.
“You’re awake? Do you feel any abnormalities in your body?”
Lu Xiao clenched his fist and shook his head.
“No, I feel nothing!”
“Oh, right! Where is the prison doctor?”
Lu Xiao’s memory remained stuck at the moment he was injected with anesthesia.
The doctor pushed up his monocle and smiled.
“The prison doctor is resting.”
Lu Xiao nodded, then remembered someone else.
He gestured with his hand.
“What about that mischievous patient? How is he doing now?”
The doctor nodded with a smile.
“Thanks for your concern. He’s doing very well now!”
Elsewhere, after watching the footage of his treatment, Liuguang stood stunned for a long time.
Those scenes had left a profound psychological shadow on him.
Dart asked in a low voice:
“Liuguang! Think carefully. Where did you encounter the ghost-faced moth?”
Liuguang shook his head numbly.
“Captain! I swear I’ve never seen that ghostly thing!”
“I don’t know why there’s a larva of that thing inside me!”
His voice trembled.
Dart paced back and forth, deep in thought.
“The growth cycle of the ghost-faced moth larva is only one month.”
“Judging by the size of the larva in your body, it must have been parasitic for less than twenty days.”
“And in the past three months, you’ve been training with us at the base, never leaving.”
“You only left the base two days ago during a mission.”
“That doesn’t make sense!”
At that moment, a man in a black suit and sunglasses entered the training room.
He showed them his credentials.
“I’m from the Warden Investigation Unit. You can call me Colonel Enzo.”
Upon seeing the ID, everyone present saluted with their right fists over their hearts.
“Colonel Enzo!”
Enzo withdrew his ID, nodded, then looked at Liuguang.
“Private Liuguang! According to Warden regulations, you must come with me for investigation.”
Liuguang stared blankly at Dart.
Dart gritted his teeth and spoke loudly.
“Reporting, Colonel! I believe there are still many doubts about Liuguang’s case!”
Hearing this, Enzo removed his sunglasses, his bright blue eyes fixed on Dart.
“Lieutenant Dart, do you know what you’re saying?”
Dart stood straight and replied calmly.
“Reporting, Colonel Enzo! I know exactly what I’m saying.”
Click!
No sooner had Dart finished speaking than a pistol was pressed against his temple.
Enzo’s expression was amused.
“Obstructing the investigation unit—according to Warden regulations, what is the penalty?”
Dart did not even flinch; his gaze remained forward.
“According to the internal security regulations of the Wardens, those who obstruct investigations and endanger the containment facility’s safety shall be eliminated on the spot.”
Enzo smiled, the gun pressing firmly against Dart’s temple.
“Lieutenant Dart, if I fire now, I trust you have no objections?”
At these words, everyone’s hearts leapt to their throats.
Dart remained silent.
At this moment, Liuguang stepped forward.
“Colonel Enzo! I am willing to undergo investigation by the unit!”
Sly pulled Liuguang’s sleeve anxiously.
“Are you crazy? Do you know what you’ll face with the investigation unit?”
Liuguang nodded bitterly.
“But, Captain…”
“A wise choice indeed!”
Enzo withdrew the gun and looked at Liuguang.
Then he pulled out a pair of handcuffs and tossed them to Liuguang.
Liuguang caught them, just about to cuff himself when the training room door was pushed open.
The doctor in a white coat and monocle walked in.
Behind him followed the curious Lu Xiao, looking around.
All eyes in the room turned toward them.
Half an hour earlier.
“I have a favor to ask of you!”
The doctor pushed up his monocle and said to Lu Xiao.
Upon hearing this, Lu Xiao nodded without hesitation.
“I love helping others the most!”
The doctor nodded and then produced a photo.
The person in the photo had piercing blue eyes, a hawk nose, and short blonde hair.
“When you see this person, tell a lie for me!”
“Just say he carries a strange aura!”
Lu Xiao took the photo.
“That simple?”
The doctor gave a meaningful smile.
“Yes, that simple!”
Bang, bang!
Lu Xiao patted his chest.
“Leave it to me!”
Back in the training room.
The doctor held an investigation order.
“Mr. Enzo, here is the latest investigation order. Please cooperate with our inquiry.”
Enzo froze on the spot upon hearing this.
He took the investigation order from the doctor and read it, disbelief shining in his eyes.
“Motherf***! What evidence do you have to claim I’ve been corrupted by the strange?”
The doctor moved aside to reveal Lu Xiao behind him.
“This is a live containment from our C03 facility.”
“He has survived in the Dark Prison for many years and is extremely sensitive to strange auras.”
“All detailed data has been recorded in the system.”
“The superior has assigned us to bring containment S292 to assist in your investigation.”
Enzo gritted his teeth in frustration.
“But this violates internal Warden regulations!”
“Even if I am a suspect, the investigation unit should be dispatched—not you people to interrogate me!”
The doctor pushed up his monocle, smiling kindly.
“Colonel, it seems you’re very familiar with Warden regulations.”
“However, we have special authorization from higher-ups.”
He pulled out a document from inside his coat.
The document bore the seal of the Warden’s highest office.
“Colonel, do you have any other questions?”
Enzo could only snort coldly.
Based on the materials the doctor held, the investigation by C03 was lawful and justified.
These documents alone were enough to initiate an emergency investigation on any Warden.
Having concluded the negotiation, Lu Xiao smiled.
He circled around Enzo a few times, clicking his tongue.
Enzo felt a chill as Lu Xiao fixed him with deadpan eyes.
“Irritated, aren’t you?”
Lu Xiao lifted his head and sniffed lightly, then looked at the doctor with a troubled expression.
“Doctor, it seems I don’t need to lie for you after all.”
Upon hearing this, the doctor suddenly felt like slicing Lu Xiao into pieces.
Suppressing his urge to curse, he forced a smile.
“So, what’s your conclusion?”
Lu Xiao gave a smile he thought was positive, but which seemed eerie to everyone present.
He pointed at Enzo.
“This gentleman isn’t corrupted by the strange.”
“Because he is the strange itself!”
