Chapter 26: Welcome the Terror, You Minions!

Hearing Dart’s answer, Lu Xiao smiled with delight.
He had merely been driven somewhat mad by the torment of the Dark Prison; that did not mean he was stupid.
He had heard every word exchanged by the members of the squad.
He would be the first to refuse to tolerate outsiders throwing their weight around on his own country’s soil.
Although he was no longer certain whether he still counted as one of its people.
That did nothing to weaken his resolve to kill.
He raised a hand to his forehead, his long fingers sharply defined at the joints.
A flash of bloodlust passed through the depths of his eyes.
He struggled to control his expression, afraid of frightening Xiaoyu beside him.
Xiaoyu felt his body trembling slightly and asked curiously,
“Are you scared?”
Lu Xiao controlled his expression and gave her a relatively gentle smile.
“Just a little excited!”
“Right. Just a tiny bit!”
……
The villa had already fallen.
Dozens of bodies in black suits lay scattered across the corridor.
Every one of them had a hole in the forehead.
Blood had soaked the entire floor.
It had even begun to spread down the steps outside the villa’s entrance.
The magnificent villa had become an asura field.
“Bang!”
The door was kicked open.
Mr. Liu sat on the sofa, a tall red-wine glass clasped in his hand.
Under the light, the crimson liquid inside looked like blood.
Mr. Liu did not turn to look at the people who had entered. He simply continued savoring his wine.
Seven soldiers in special-forces gear filed inside.
The leader made a tactical hand signal.
One of the soldiers stepped forward and hefted the ancient, intricately patterned mirror onto his shoulder.
Mr. Liu did nothing to stop them. His body had gone limp against the sofa.
“Could I ask you for one thing?”
His voice sounded somewhat hoarse.
The soldiers turned to look at him.
“Could you kill me here?”
That was the outcome Mr. Liu wanted most at that moment.
The final image the magic mirror had shown him continued to haunt his mind.
It was a room with metal walls on all four sides, containing a fat, headless corpse.
Compared with that fate, Mr. Liu would much rather be shot to death in his own villa.
The soldiers, however, did not respond to his request.
The leader merely waved his hand indifferently.
Everyone filed out of the room in orderly fashion.
Lying on the sofa, Mr. Liu muttered,
“So the ending really can’t be changed?”
……
Outside the villa, seven dark gun barrels were aimed at the front entrance.
They belonged to the City of Fire squad.
At the entrance, a special-forces soldier approached the door using a tactical maneuver.

The instant his head appeared, a burst of bullets poured into it.
Even with a bulletproof helmet specially made by the Prison Wardens, his head was blown apart immediately.
It burst like a watermelon, splattering red and white across the ground.
At the same time, several grenades were thrown through the villa’s entrance.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Flames erupted in every direction.
Dart issued his command in a calm voice.
“Covering fire!”
Rat-a-tat-tat!
Rat-a-tat-tat!
Tongues of flame spat from the muzzles, each stretching nearly half a meter.
They resembled the scorching breath of fire dragons.
Click!
A smoke grenade was thrown out.
Moments later, thick smoke billowed everywhere.
Dart activated the anti-fog function on his goggles.
Through his vision, he saw not a single person inside the smoke.
He understood their choice at once.
“They’ve given up on using the front entrance!”
Slick let out a cold laugh.
“Then they’re in for a world of pain!”
Dart switched on his microphone.
“Mr. Lu Xiao, they didn’t come through the front entrance!”
Lu Xiao’s voice came through the earpiece.
“I already saw that!”
Elsewhere—
An opening had been blasted through the villa’s wall.
More than a dozen special-forces soldiers emerged in orderly succession.
They advanced in a staggered formation, remaining alert to their surroundings.
The moment the last soldier stepped through the breach, a voice sounded beside their ears.
“Hey, friends. Surprise!”
They turned toward the voice.
By the light of the moon, they saw a grotesque figure in a nearby tree.
The figure hung upside down from a branch, its head twisting at an unnatural angle as it stared at them.
A scarlet tongue lay pressed against its forehead.
Rat-a-tat-tat!
Rat-a-tat-tat!
They were all professionally trained soldiers.
Although the sight was terrifying in the dead of night, they opened fire at the figure without hesitation.
Lu Xiao dropped from the tree and began crawling through the darkness in a twisted, unnatural posture.
He dodged every bullet that came his way.
He was incredibly fast. In less than two seconds, he had closed in on the squad.
Still crawling, he struck out with one palm.
Squelch!
The thigh of the soldier he struck vanished instantly.
A shrill scream rang out.
At the same time, countless bullets rained down upon that position.

But Lu Xiao had already moved away.
The soldier who had lost a thigh was riddled with bullets by his own comrades.
“Shit! What kind of monster is that?”
At last, one of the soldiers cried out in terror.
“Damn it! Why has another bizarre creature suddenly appeared—”
Before he could finish, he could no longer make a sound.
His vision spun upside down.
Lu Xiao had shattered his neck with a single slap.
“Oh, wow! You’re awfully fragile!”
“Fragile as a sheet of paper!”
Squelch!
Another slap lashed out.
The soldier struck by his palm had his head blown apart in an instant.
Lu Xiao extended his scarlet tongue and licked the tip of his nose.
Under the moonlight, his figure looked utterly terrifying.
His entire body was smeared with blood and brain matter.
“Surprised, my long-distance friends?”
“Embrace fear, cannon fodder!”
At that moment, a grenade landed at Lu Xiao’s feet.
He bent down and snatched it up, then stuffed the grenade, already on the verge of exploding, into one soldier’s mouth.
Under the soldier’s terrified gaze—
Boom!
The grenade exploded.
The soldier’s upper body was instantly blown to pieces, leaving only a pair of mangled legs behind.
Lu Xiao turned his head, his lips curling into a wide grin as he opened his mouth.
“Boom!”
A single word escaped his lips. Fragments of flesh still clung to his face, yet his expression was as refined as a gentleman’s.
The scene left a deep shadow in the hearts of the surviving soldiers.
……
Dart glanced at his special-forces watch.
“Three minutes have passed!”
The moment he finished speaking, Xiaoyu cried out in surprise.
“Look!”
Under the moonlight, a young man strolled leisurely toward them with a mirror balanced on his shoulder.
He looked as though he were taking a leisurely walk through his own backyard.
Fragments of torn flesh still hung from his clothes.
Blood dripped from the hem of his coat onto the ground.
Slick could not help shuddering at the sight.
“Does this guy not care about his appearance at all?”
He voiced his bewilderment.
Just then—
Thud!
Two members of the squad suddenly collapsed, their bodies convulsing.
