Chapter 7: A Minor Procedure
At this moment, Liuguang's face was filled with despair.
He was slowly dragged back to his original position by the prison doctor.
Where he had been dragged, faint traces of blood remained.
After Lu Xiao entered the room, he politely pressed the door-closing button on the wall.
The dazzling incandescent light spilled over the metal-cast room.
In the center of the room stood a surgical table, the only piece of furniture present.
The prison doctor lifted Liuguang as if picking up a chick.
Liuguang still tried to struggle, but a single word from the doctor plunged him into utter despair.
"My friend! I need your help!"
Lu Xiao nodded without hesitation.
"Don't mention it, my friend! What are your orders?"
The prison doctor let out a strange laugh.
"Hehehe! Help me restrain this naughty patient!"
"I'm really too busy to do it myself!"
Lu Xiao walked over to the surgical table and glanced at the leather straps used to bind patients.
Without a word, he skillfully tied up Liuguang, who was struggling on the table.
At last, the prison doctor was freed.
He extended a finger, on which a scalpel gleamed with a faint metallic light.
Just as he was about to cut open Liuguang’s chest, Lu Xiao spoke up to stop him.
"My friend! It seems you forgot to administer anesthesia!"
Hearing this, the prison doctor froze in place.
The air seemed to solidify at that moment.
Liuguang, lying on the table, had already lost the light from his eyes.
"That's it! This madman actually dares to question the prison doctor’s skill!"
If he had any chance to survive before, it was now almost completely gone.
He knew well that questioning the prison doctor’s skill would drive him into a frenzy.
No one had ever seen a frenzied prison doctor because those who did were dead.
Every data point on each containment subject's information panel was the result of one or countless lives lost.
The air grew colder still.
Lu Xiao seemed unaware, showing a hint of pity on his face as he continued.
"If you don’t give the patient anesthesia, he will suffer greatly!"
"Thank you!"
Liuguang, lying on the surgical table, was now almost tearless.
He looked at the prison doctor, who stood still and motionless.
At this moment, the prison doctor’s body trembled slightly, as if hovering on the edge of rage.
"Hehehe!"
A strange laugh echoed through the bird-beak mask.
The voice was hoarse.
Just hearing that laugh made Liuguang feel as if he had fallen into an ice cellar.
The terror of death surged toward him.
Thanks to his usual training, he managed to avoid losing control of his bowels at this moment.
Just as Liuguang closed his eyes, preparing to face death calmly, the prison doctor’s voice rang out again throughout the containment chamber.
"Thank you for the reminder, my friend!"
The prison doctor withdrew his finger, then cupped his chin in his hand.
"But I forgot to prepare anesthesia in advance, and there are no materials here to make it either. What should I do?"
Hearing this, Liuguang seemed to see a glimmer of hope.
His voice trembled.
"Doctor! Please allow me some time to prepare. Since there’s no anesthesia and I’m not ready for surgery, how about I come back another day?"
The prison doctor sighed.
That breath, filtered through the bird-beak mask, produced an extremely piercing whistle.
"I suppose that’s the only option!"
With that, he reached out to untie Liuguang’s restraints.
At that moment, Lu Xiao grinned.
"Don’t rush, my friend! I have a solution!"
Hearing this, Liuguang immediately looked at Lu Xiao.
The smile on Lu Xiao’s face looked no different from a devil’s grin in his eyes.
"Thank you so much!"
Liuguang gave up struggling entirely.
Lu Xiao approached the surgical table and gently lifted Liuguang’s head.
Then, with a sharp chop of his hand, he struck the back of Liuguang’s head.
Liuguang’s eyes rolled back abruptly, and he fainted.
Seeing this, the prison doctor seemed greatly inspired.
"My friend! If you become a doctor, you will undoubtedly be an excellent one!"
Hearing the prison doctor’s compliment, Lu Xiao suddenly looked shy.
Then he pointed at the unconscious Liuguang and asked his question.
"What disease does this naughty patient have?"
He asked out of pure curiosity.
The prison doctor snapped his finger and replied calmly.
"It’s not a very serious problem; a small operation will cure it!"
As he spoke, his finger already sliced open Liuguang’s chest.
The sound was like a knife cutting through a sack.
Lu Xiao quickly looked down.
Inside the opened chest, the bright red heart was beating strongly.
Attached to the heart was a tumor the size of a pigeon’s egg.
The tumor pulsed with the heartbeat.
The prison doctor’s hands moved swiftly.
With a gentle slide of his finger, the tumor was cut away.
At the same time, blood spurted out like a fountain from the incision.
Lu Xiao’s eyes were sharp and quick; he dodged the splattering blood with a swift move.
The prison doctor remained calm; the scalpel flashed between his fingers as he quickly removed the remaining lesion.
Then, from somewhere, he produced a cotton thread.
He swiftly stitched the wound on the heart.
Liuguang’s heart no longer bled outward, but the chest cavity was filled with accumulated blood.
Lu Xiao, like a curious child, stared unblinkingly with lifeless eyes.
At that moment, the prison doctor suddenly seemed annoyed.
"Damn! I forgot to prepare the toolbox in advance!"
"This operation was far too rushed!"
Hearing this, Lu Xiao’s gaze swept around the containment chamber.
Aside from the surgical table, there was nothing else.
However, his eyes soon fell on his own clothes.
They were a pure white short-sleeved T-shirt.
These clothes had been given to him by the staff upon arrival.
He reached out and gently rubbed the fabric.
"Hmm, it’s cotton!"
He quickly took off his shirt and stuffed it into Liuguang’s gaping chest wound.
The blood instantly soaked through the pure cotton T-shirt.
The blood pooling inside the chest was quickly absorbed by the shirt.
Seeing this, the prison doctor let out a high-pitched voice.
"My friend! You truly are a genius!"
"Although this will cause infection, as long as I prepare some medicine afterward, the complications won’t be a concern!"
Lu Xiao, shirtless, smiled shyly.
"My friend! Thank you for your recognition!"
Thus, with the combined efforts of two madmen, this chaotic little surgery proceeded remarkably smoothly.
Elsewhere, in front of the surveillance monitors, the atmosphere fell into absolute silence; for a moment, one could hear a pin drop.
The silence lasted a full five minutes.
"Doctor! Is he… is he really still human?"
A staff member’s voice trembled as he asked.
