Chapter 28: An Eighth-Rank Corpse King Intends to Infiltrate a Human Capital?

Li Xingyue was astonished. He hadn't expected his amateurish technique to produce such a stunning result!

Of course, it was primarily because the four of them were naturally gifted with such striking appearances and formidable auras that even a mediocre dye job couldn't diminish their impressive physiques and good looks.

"Didn't you say the game console was fixed? Why aren't you playing it?"

Shura drew a card without looking back. "They said it won't be fully ready until tomorrow. You can play it when you come back next time. Wang Zha! Haha!"

So that was it!

He took a bottle of cola from the fridge and chugged more than half of it in one go.

*Burp.*

"By the way, after entering Liberty City, I realized that humanity's current strength is not to be underestimated. Do you really plan on just playing around like this forever?"

Tyrant studied the board, deep in thought, before tossing out a two. "Certainly not. We plan to enter the human main cities in a while."

This statement left Li Xingyue bewildered. "What? Isn't walking straight into the city just asking for death?"

Bloodmoon looked at him. "No, no, no. We won't just survive; we'll end up living much better than you!"

Hearing this, Li Xingyue seemed to understand. "So, you intend to infiltrate by posing as humans? That means I'll have someone watching my back in Liberty City!"

Tyrant shook his head. "You're only half right. We are entering the main cities, but not Liberty City—we’re each heading to one of the four remaining ones!"

Only then did Li Xingyue recall the four surviving main cities they had mentioned before: Iron City, Aurora City, Ark City, and Radiance City.

"Damn it, that means we'll be worlds apart! If something happens, no one will be able to help anyone else! I don't agree!"

Li Xingyue immediately balked. Starsea City wasn't far from Liberty City, so they could provide backup if needed. If they left, he would lose one of his biggest trump cards.

Shura, for once, looked serious. "Actually, we don't want to leave either, but we are all nearing a breakthrough. Staying here won't do us any good."

*Damn, a breakthrough? To the ninth rank?*

"That's incredible!" Li Xingyue gave a thumbs-up. "Then I won't say another word. But how can I contact you if something comes up?"

Tyrant pulled a mobile phone from his pocket. "Use this. We just got it from some high-level humans. You can call or text whenever you need."

Li Xingyue took the phone, opened it, and exclaimed in shock, "This is top-tier? You even managed to get phones?"

Tyrant nodded. "This isn't an ordinary phone; it's been specially modified by the zombie-hunting squads. Only humans of a certain rank have them. It's normal that you haven't seen one."

*Damn, he belittled me again.*

After unlocking the phone, he found it lacked the usual clutter of apps, featuring only the essentials: phone, messaging, and maps.

Tucking the phone into his innermost pocket, Li Xingyue checked the time and prepared to say goodbye. He had been out all day and it was time to return and complete his mission.

Just then, a thought struck him: if the four of them went to the main cities, wouldn't Starsea City be left undefended? Anyone could just waltz in and loot the place.

When he voiced his concern, Tyrant smiled. "I was just about to tell you. One of our zombies is about to break through to the eighth rank; it will stay behind in Starsea City."

"Oh, I see. But it doesn't know me. What if it kills me by mistake?"

Shura walked over and patted his shoulder. "Don't worry, it knows what you look like. It won't kill the wrong person. Look at how timid you are."

Fine, so I'm a coward.

"Alright, you guys keep playing. I'm taking off."

After bidding them farewell, Li Xingyue hoisted Huang Ya onto his back and left the villa. He scouted the roadside until he found a dilapidated SUV. He put Huang Ya in the backseat and drove back the way he had come.

He soon reached the site of the earlier ambush, but found no useful supplies. He then checked the location where the others had fallen, but found nothing but shredded clothing and gore.

Continuing down the road, he arrived at the spot where the group had parked. After inspecting the vehicles, he found two or three in decent condition, but he couldn't drive them all back alone.

Just as he was debating which one to take, he heard movement in the car. He turned his head and saw that Huang Ya had woken up.

It was just like someone handing him a pillow when he was already drowsy!

Huang Ya looked around, dazed, before his eyes locked onto Li Xingyue. He got out of the car and walked over, looking completely confused. "What's going on? I remember we were running for our lives. Where is everyone else?"

"Also, was I hit? Why does my neck hurt so much?"

Li Xingyue suppressed his laughter and feigned ignorance. "I'm just as confused. We were running, and I suddenly tripped. I passed out, and when I woke up, everyone was gone."

Huang Ya frowned. "That's strange. By the way, what are you doing?"

Li Xingyue realized what he was doing and pointed to the vehicles. "Just trying to figure out which car to drive back."

Huang Ya looked at him, speechless. "Are you stupid? Just drive them all back! Call Liu Yi and the others; we can take all five cars!"

"Damn, why didn't I think of that?" When Huang Ya mentioned Liu Yi, he remembered them. He wondered how their mission had gone.

Li Xingyue pulled out his communicator and saw several messages from Liu Yi and the others. They had finished their mission, submitted it, and were asking where the two of them were and if they needed help.

Li Xingyue quickly drafted a message telling them to head toward the city outskirts. He and Huang Ya then drove off to meet the three of them.

About an hour later, they spotted the three Liu brothers walking toward them. After picking them up, they headed for Starsea City.

Seeing that the two of them were unharmed, Liu Yi breathed a sigh of relief. "We couldn't reach you all day. We thought something had gone wrong."

Li Xingyue smiled. "A lot happened today, but thankfully it's all over. When we get there, we'll each take a car back. I saw some supplies in them; that should make us a tidy profit."

Liu Er was thrilled. "Captain, Old Huang, you guys are amazing! You pulled off such a big score on the down-low!"

Huang Ya didn't respond to the flattery, offering only an awkward smile. He still didn't know what had actually happened; he just felt like he had slept for a very long time and woke up to find things like this.

An hour later, the group arrived at the parking spot. They selected the five best vehicles, loaded them with supplies from the others, and returned to Liberty City together.

As they passed through the gates, the guards on duty were stunned. Had supplies suddenly become this easy to find?
