Chapter 55: The Mura Clan - A Life-Saving Bounty
Events proved that Song Chi's idea was indeed quite good.
As more and more alien creatures entered the Market, although the most popular shops remained those selling genetic potions, tungsten-gold battle shields, and tungsten-gold spears, quite a few aliens also made their way into the newly opened exclusive acquisition shop.
Unfortunately, after seeing what titanium crystals looked like, these aliens almost all shook their heads in confusion. Evidently, in their past experiences, they had never encountered such a resource.
Song Chi was not in anxious. Titanium crystals were an extremely rare resource to begin with; if they were truly that easy to come by, they would not have been classified as strategic-level resources by the Fireseed Human Civilization authorities.
Time flowed on. Aside from occasionally checking in on the titanium crystal acquisition shop, Song Chi continued to wander around the free trading area just as before, searching for supplies with large price margins while also keeping an eye out for any rare oddities.
However, the result was clear: rare oddities were not so easily stumbled upon, but he did manage to acquire quite a few supplies that had significant price differences with the White Tower Floating Continent.
Just like that, a few more hours passed quickly, and the current Market trading session was drawing to a close.
At this moment, Song Chi stopped bargaining with a vendor in front of a stall, turned his gaze, and looked towards the entrance of the Market.
Just a moment ago, he sensed spatial fluctuations emanating from one of the nineteen spatial vortex gates. Crucially, this particular spatial gate had never seen any creatures enter or exit prior to this.
"Could it be that another spatial gate has been discovered by alien realm creatures?"
As this thought arose in his mind, the spatial fluctuations within that spatial vortex portal grew increasingly distinct. A few seconds later, a creature that had never appeared in the Market before manifested its form from within the spatial vortex gate.
Song Chi's spiritual sense swept across this figure, his brows raised slightly, a glint in his eyes that carried a rather profound meaning.
If he guessed correctly, the current situation of this newly entered alien was likely far from auspicious.
On its nearly humanoid body, dark green blood was flowing, and its left arm had mysteriously vanished, leaving behind only a right arm.
Clearly, it had most likely experienced a fierce and brutal battle before seizing the chaos to slip into the Market entrance. It was even possible that right now, a large group of enemies was waiting for it just outside that very entrance.
Watching this alien first scan the rule light barrier at the Market entrance, a look of excitement appearing in its eyes before it staggered wildly into the interior of the Market, Song Chi remained calm on the surface, though his mind was closely monitoring this unknown alien creature.
Not for any other reason, but simply because this admission method, so entirely different from other creatures, was enough to arouse considerable interest.
Upon entering the Market, the alien looked around and finally walked into the genetic potion shop, exchanging fifty Tier-0 life primary cores for a primary healing potion.
After using the healing potion, the injuries on its body quickly stabilized, but it did not rush to leave. Instead, it lingered in the genetic potion shop for quite a while, further understanding the specific effects of various potions through the shop's information light screen.
Seemingly unable to find the type of potion it desired, the alien left the shop in disappointment and finally arrived at the free trading area.
Seeing that it intended to set up a stall, the surrounding aliens who had been secretly observing for a long time immediately gathered around. Just like Song Chi, many aliens were filled with curiosity about this newcomer.
After setting up the stall, the one-armed alien took out various items one by one from its carried backpack.
These items were a mixed bag, including Tier-1 life primary cores, special ores, floating continent origins, and so on.
Song Chi, mingling among the crowd, immediately asked in standard Star Sea common language upon seeing the other party produce a Tier-1 floating continent origin:
"A Tier-1 floating continent origin. What do you want to trade for it?"
The one-armed alien continued to pull things out from its bag, but it did not ignore Song Chi's inquiry.
"Life-saving items, items capable of harming a Tier-1 lifeform, items that can allow me to rapidly advance to Tier-1, or items that assist in escape. As long as you can produce any one of these four types of items, we can further negotiate the price."
Hearing these words, the aliens surrounding the stall broke into a heated discussion. Soon, many of them lost interest and dispersed one after another.
It wasn't that the one-armed alien was making exorbitant demands—after all, it had mentioned that the subsequent price could be negotiated further—but rather because the four types of items it mentioned were astronomically expensive. These Tier-0 aliens simply did not possess such things in their possession.
Even if some aliens truly possessed them, they would keep them for their own use rather than trading them away.
Within the crowd, Song Chi also wore a conflicted expression. While a Tier-1 floating continent origin was a fine treasure, the four kinds of items the other party requested were not things he could casually pull out on a whim.
Seeing that the expressions of the various aliens in front of the stall were shifting, yet none of them spoke up, the one-armed alien felt extremely anxious in its heart. From the rule light screen earlier, it knew that the end of this trading session was approaching fast. If it failed to trade for what it needed within this limited time, what awaited it afterward was only death.
Thinking of this, it seemed truly desperate. Its right arm plunged into the backpack once more, and when the items it withdrew were presented before everyone's eyes, the gazes of all the aliens instantly lit up.
Beneath a dazzling purple glow lay a palm-sized mass of brain tissue. Although the object looked somewhat repulsive, the purple radiance it emitted could not deceive anyone—it was unmistakably a Star Sea rare oddity, and an extremely rare purple-quality oddity at that.
In an instant, those aliens who had left not long ago hurried back, while even more aliens continuously surged toward the area.
Before long, hundreds of aliens had gathered around the one-armed alien's stall. The appeal of a purple-quality oddity was self-evident.
By this time, the one-armed alien no longer concealed anything and directly stated its current predicament.
"There are at least five Tier-1 Moror race members waiting for me outside. I don't want anything else now; whoever can produce an item that can maximize my chances of survival will take this purple-quality Brain-Eater ultra-wave main brain."
Around the stall, the aliens' eyes gleamed with brilliant light, the fervor and covetousness in their gazes clearly visible. Yet, not a single creature dared to make a move; over the past twenty-plus hours, other aliens had already demonstrated to them with practical actions the price of harboring crooked ideas.
After a round of discussion, this transaction, which made all the creatures drool with envy, remained uncompleted. It wasn't that no aliens tried bringing out their ultimate trump cards, but none of them could satisfy the one-armed alien.
There was simply no help for it. Trying to enable a Tier-0 creature to possess the strength to contend with five Tier-1 creatures in a short span of time, or to safely escape from right under their noses, was simply far too difficult.
