Chapter 42: Go for it, Brother-in-law 19
It is unclear whether this "daddy" is a true dragon or some other species, but fathers are usually quite formidable—certainly more so than this adorable sub-dragon. If it ever returned home, it would surely never come back here.
Xining acted impatient. "Are you going to sign or not?"
"Not signing!"
"Are you going to sign?"
"Not signing, I said I’m not signing!"
Xining struck it with her staff and asked fiercely, "Say you won't sign again and I'll beat you to death."
The sub-dragon, clutching its head with claws tipped by sharp white nails, looked aggrieved. "Why did you hit me? It hurts so much, wuwuwu..."
To see a sub-dragon reduced to this state was truly absurd.
Still, the thought of having a sub-dragon as a contract beast was undeniably cool. Even the weakest sub-dragon is still a dragon. At the very least, it had wings and would be a better mode of transportation than a carriage.
Xining reached out and rubbed the sub-dragon’s head. "Don't cry, don't cry. Let’s just sign the contract. I’ll take good care of you!"
The sub-dragon blinked its watery eyes, pouting. "Can you let me sleep in your room at night?"
"Yes!"
"I want a pink bed and a pink quilt."
Xining stifled a laugh, struggling to keep a smile on her face. "Of course. I’ll also get you a pink dragon doll just like you, and I’ll tie pretty bows on you every day."
The sub-dragon brightened up. "Okay, let’s sign! For thirty years!"
Xining was speechless.
Yeyu was speechless.
It was satisfied with just that? This sub-dragon was truly just a child, so easily swindled.
Contracts are divided into master-servant contracts and equal contracts. A master-servant contract means one party is the master and the other the servant; the master has total control, and if the master dies, the servant follows. If the servant dies, the master remains unaffected.
An equal contract means both parties are equals, and the contract can be terminated at any time by mutual consent. If the master dies, the servant doesn't have to follow, but their abilities, energy, and lifespan will be significantly diminished.
Powerful dragons generally look down on humans, treating them as lowly ants. After all, a human’s lifespan is less than a century, while a dragon’s is vast, and their power far exceeds that of a human.
Only those who are powerful or incredibly lucky can manage to contract a dragon. Dragon contracts are almost always equal ones.
Yeyu’s cunning was not to be underestimated. He drafted a thirty-year master-servant contract, with Su Yun as the master and the sub-dragon as the servant.
Once written, they both dripped their blood onto the parchment. The contract burst into flames, turning to ash—it was now in effect!
"My name is Su Yun," Xining said, petting the sub-dragon’s head.
Yeyu interjected, "Call her Master! Or I’ll beat you."
The sub-dragon, remembering how much the staff hurt when Yeyu hit its head, pouted. "Oh... Master."
Xining smiled. "What is your name?"
The sub-dragon replied coquettishly, "My daddy calls me Treasure, Sweetheart, and Little Ancestor!"
Xining was speechless.
She hoped its father wasn't a real dragon. Otherwise, the image of a thick-skinned, rough-fleshed dragon—looking like a hideous lizard with wings—calling someone "Treasure, Sweetheart, and Little Ancestor" would be truly haunting.
Xining didn't want to call it that; she wouldn't be able to bring herself to say it when summoning it later. She patted its head. "How about I call you Menglong?"
"Mmhmm~" The sub-dragon seemed so comfortable it was about to fall asleep. It really was a cute little... *ahem*, sub-dragon.
After dealing with the sub-dragon, they saw a "hay ball" hopping its way out of the stable.
It was Elsa. Without her staff and bound by hay, she couldn't access the power of her magic ring. She had no choice but to hop away, trying to escape.
Escape? Hmph, not so easy. This wasn't over!
Before Xining could say a word, Yeyu had already wrapped his arm around her shoulders and, in the blink of an eye, flashed in front of Elsa.
She had caused the host's brother-in-law such misery that he nearly suffered a stroke; there was no way they were letting her off the hook.
Xining picked up the stable lantern, opened the glass cover, pulled out the candle, and turned to Yeyu. "Lend me a light."
"Master, Master, wait for me!" Menglong flapped its pink, bat-like membrane wings and flew over.
"Don't ask a dragon for fire; their breath could roast you alive." Yeyu, fearing that this Su Yun was just as dim-witted as her sister, quickly snapped his fingers and lit the candle with magic.
He watched as Xining walked up to Elsa with the lit candle, crouched down, and prepared to set the hay covering Elsa on fire.
Yeyu was speechless.
So that’s what she needed the light for.
"Mmph, mmph~" The magic on Elsa’s mouth hadn't been lifted yet. Unable to open her mouth, she stared with terrified, wide eyes, making muffled noises and shaking her head violently.
"Wait!" Yeyu stopped Xining and said to Elsa, "I can have her let you go, as long as you give me the formula for the potion."
Xining turned her head, looking at Yeyu with disdain.
Yeyu blinked. "Do you want it too?"
Xining had been reluctant, but realized that having the formula wouldn't be a bad idea. At the very least, she wouldn't have to scour the world for the medicine later. If Elsa hadn't brought the medicine to their doorstep—only to have it benefit Slan and Maria—Xining wouldn't have known how to get her hands on it.
After all, this was a different world; there weren't exactly adult shops on every corner.
"Fine! Make me a copy." Xining nodded.
Yeyu gave her a meaningful smile, but Xining’s skin was thick enough to handle it.
Yeyu turned back to Elsa. "Give us the formula."
Elsa shook her head violently again. This was her family’s exclusive secret recipe; she couldn't just give it away. Her failure this time didn't matter—there were plenty of other magic families; she could just find another target.
"Not giving it up?" Yeyu raised an eyebrow, offering a calm, gentle smile that could deceive many a young girl’s heart. "Miss Su Yun, please continue."
Xining was speechless.
Compared to Yeyu’s dark cunning, Xining felt once again that she was as pure and kind as a little white rabbit.
As Xining’s candle ignited the hay, Elsa felt the temperature rising rapidly. Choking smoke billowed up, drilling into her nose. Between coughing and tears, she began to nod violently.
But Yeyu was in no hurry. He held his staff and waited for a while before waving it, using magic to draw water from the horses' trough to douse the flames on the hay.
Yeyu walked up to Elsa, used magic to unlock her mouth, and cast a Truth Spell, forcing Elsa to reveal the formula.
The only way to counter a Truth Spell is to stay silent, but once you speak, it must be the truth.
Though the magic on her mouth was gone, Elsa kept her lips tightly sealed.
Xining grabbed some fire oil, poured it over the scorched and damp hay ball, and then silently picked up the candle... Elsa quickly surrendered the formula.
Upon hearing the ingredients—bat wings, scorpion tails, spider eyes, and the like—it sounded just like the "Hundred-Insect Pills" from a Wudu cult. With the addition of mixed-dragon nail clippings and the saliva of a three-eyed beast, it was clear that only this world could produce such a "nourishing" aphrodisiac; it wouldn't work in any other world.
