True dragons are naturally arrogant and view humans as inferior species. Without a formal contract, this was precisely the attitude they held.

Xining could only start with the baby dragon: "Baby dragon, come here!"

With a wave of her hand, the baby dragon came bouncing over. With its father now present, its innate nature was fully unleashed.

With every step, the ground trembled slightly as the baby dragon hopped over just like a pink bouncing dinosaur. Xining...

"Baby dragon, could you talk to your daddy and get this matter settled? We can have dinner earlier then, I'm starving! Besides, if we keep fighting and it gets dark, there won't be enough time to prepare your bed and quilt." Xining struck directly at the two things the baby dragon loved most.

The things the baby dragon loved were: meals, pink beds, bows, gemstones, and daddy.

Upon hearing this, the baby dragon immediately turned to the fire dragon and said, "Daddy, can you chase that ugly guy away?"

The fire dragon finally opened its eyes a fraction wider, though they remained half-open with disdain as it glanced at the two figures fighting above: "Which one? They're both ugly!"

Yeyu...

(He was, at the very least, a fresh-faced young handsome man, a top-tier graduate who had graduated early from the Magic Academy.)

Just as Yeyu and Colby separated by five or six meters amidst a flash of fire and lightning, the baby dragon pointed a finger at Colby: "That one, the ugliest-looking one."

Colby...

(He was, at the very least, a Grand Magus, and considered quite handsome among his peers.)

The baby dragon started snitching: "He's the one who ordered the dragon knight to attack us, and he wants to kill my master."

The fire dragon stood up, its lips curling slightly toward Colby to reveal sharp fangs, from which a drop of black venom dripped. When it splattered onto the ground, it hissed against the vegetation, and the green grass withered almost instantly.

Now that the dragon knight had fled, Colby was fighting entirely alone. Sensing disaster, Colby watched as a column of fire, scorching hot like magma straight from the fire dragon's mouth, lunged directly at his face.

Colby dodged aside just in time, but the tip of his magic robe caught the flame, and his sleeve instantly caught fire. He patted it frantically in a panic, unable to put it out immediately, his face twisting in agony as the burn spread. Finally, he used his staff to cast a fire-extinguishing spell before the flames were finally quenched.

The fire dragon let out a cold "hum," puffing a trail of white smoke from its nostrils: "Get lost right now if you don't want to die, and don't ever dare come back!"

This was a true fire dragon—not only was its hide immensely thick and tough, but the flames from its breath could instantly incinerate a house, and a dozen top-tier magi might not even be a match for it.

Colby had never expected that his own niece could summon a fire dragon. Gritting his teeth in bitter hatred, he turned and fled.

Yeyu flew down and collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily. This single gold coin was truly difficult to earn, thanks to that brother-screwing girl.

The fire dragon cast a sidelong glance of pure contempt, wearing an expression that practically shouted, "You guys are utterly pathetic."

"Thank you!" Xining offered a sincere expression of gratitude.

Yeyu's only response was: "You paid too little!"

Xining hurriedly steered the conversation elsewhere: "Let's head inside first."

Some servants brought into the manor by Colby were currently scrambling to run out, but Xining blocked their path. Anyone could leave, but everything they carried had to stay.

Whether it was items they had brought themselves or things stolen from the estate, inside this manor, it all belonged to her!

Seeing that massive fire dragon sprawled not far away, accompanied by a Grand Magus and a sub-dragon, those servants had no choice but to leave every single belonging behind.

Once Colby's people cleared out, the Fonvert Manor was practically empty.

Instead of living properly in her own manor, Maria had gone off to live in a cave, which was how Colby had managed to exploit the situation.

The entire manor was left with only an old, lame stableman and an ancient, hunchbacked lamplighter and watchman. Everyone else had been driven away by Colby and replaced with his own minions.

Following the original owner's memories, Xining walked into her bedroom and retrieved a pouch of silver coins from a hidden compartment in the wardrobe. There were thirty coins in total, and she handed ten of them to Yeyu.

"Please go to the tenant farmers outside the manor, buy some vegetables, four roasted whole lambs, and whatever bread and milk we might need." Xining intended to treat the fire dragon properly. She also wanted to show the fire dragon that its precious daughter was well-fed and well-cared for here.

Taking the money, Yeyu vanished in a flash and returned half an hour later.

An hour later, a tenant farmer drove an ox-cart over, loaded to the brim with cabbages, napa cabbages, radishes, and a small quantity of bread.

The baby dragon bounded over joyfully, picked up a vegetable, and shoved it straight into its mouth.

This infuriated the fire dragon: "How can a noble dragon eat vegetables? You must eat meat! Eating meat builds a strong body. Daddy will go catch a couple of magical beasts for you to eat."

"No, I don't want to~" The baby dragon's cheeks were stuffed so full its speech was garbled. "I don't want to eat meat, I want to eat vegetables. Vegetables are so delicious! Daddy never lets me eat vegetables, but I want to eat vegetables."

The fire dragon's golden eyes glared fixedly at Xining: "Did you deliberately make my daughter eat vegetables just to save money? No wonder she's already lost weight after just a few days."

Where had it lost weight? Even if it lost weight, a starved camel was still bigger than a horse, Xining thought with a bitter smile.

To think they were making a noble dragon eat vegetarian food! Just as the fire dragon was about to throw a tantrum, it suddenly sniffed the air: "What is that smell?"

"Roasted whole lamb," Yeyu replied, turning to Xining and adding, "One silver coin each, you know."

That was truly expensive!

The four roasted whole lambs were piled directly onto large iron platters and hauled over by horse-drawn cart.

Presumably unaware that a fire dragon was waiting here, the driver leaped from the cart in sheer terror and fled down the road, screaming at the top of his lungs without ever daring to look back.

"Please enjoy!" Xining forced an ingratiating smile onto her face.

"Don't think a few petty favors will make me forgive you. The matter of the contract is far from over! My daughter's thirty years—can a few mere sheep settle this? You are simply daydreaming!"

Its nostrils twitched again as it caught the fragrant aroma of the roasted lamb.

"Still, you know what's good for you. Once I finish eating, you will immediately annul the contract with her, or else I..." Maintaining its arrogant facade as if completely unmoved, the fire dragon snatched one of the lambs from the cart with its claw, tossed the entire thing straight into its mouth, and chewed twice.

"So delicious~" Its eyes widened in amazement.

After swallowing the mouthful, it grabbed another lamb, threw it into its mouth, and ate with its eyes squinted in pure bliss.

Swallowing one per bite, this appetite was truly staggering... Xining asked the baby dragon, which was currently munching on a napa cabbage beside her, "Didn't you say four sheep would be enough for your dad's meal?"

The baby dragon chewed its food, its words coming out muffled: "Mmhmm, that was for magical unicorn sheep."

Those magical beasts that were four or five times larger than ordinary sheep? If those roasted whole lambs weighed twenty or thirty pounds each, swallowing one per bite made complete sense.

Silently, Xining walked upstairs to her bedroom and retrieved all the remaining twenty silver coins.

With a completely expressionless face and a desperate attempt to maintain her composure, she handed the heavy money pouch to Yeyu: "Buy twenty more."

She felt like she wanted to die.

With twenty roasted whole lambs finally inside its stomach, the fire dragon was at last about eighty percent full. It sprawled out contentedly at the front entrance, closing its eyes to digest its meal. The baby dragon was also stuffed, sprawling out right beside it. Large and small, the two of them emanated a faint sense of domestic warmth.

Once the fire dragon had rested, it resumed discussing the annulment of the contract with Xining.
