Xu Anan turned her head away in anger, so Jiang Li’s light kiss landed on her cheek. “You’re talking nonsense,” she murmured, “I didn’t even—mgh!”

Her restless little mouth was stilled by that hot kiss.

It lasted only a few seconds.

Jiang Li, eyes still hot, persisted without letting up: “Do you miss me?”

“I don’t—mgh!”

After this happened half a dozen times, Xu Anan became dazed from his kisses. When he asked again, she nodded in a haze, her voice soft and faint. “I do—Jiang Li. I miss you.”

“There, that’s a good girl. Your reward.”

He pinched her delicate chin and kissed her again, his big hand stroking along her neck and moving further down.

The next morning.

Because of the hangover, Xu Anan woke with a pounding headache, rubbing her temple. How could this be? The menu had clearly stated the alcohol content was low.

“Awake?”

At the low, husky voice by her side, her memories from last night surged back. Heat rose to her face; she almost pretended to keep sleeping.

She couldn’t think of anything to say, so she kept massaging her temple.

The next second, another pair of large hands took over, gently pressing her temple.

“It was my fault,” Jiang Li said softly in apology. “I failed to reply to your message. Yesterday I was running from one meeting to another; I saw it for a moment and then forgot.” He had then gone to a highly confidential meeting where no electronic devices were allowed.

“But even if you’re angry, you can’t make jokes about your own body. You see how much it hurts now, right? Stay here. I’ll make you some hangover broth.”

Facing Jiang Li’s such tenderness, Xu Anan felt a strange tightness rise in her eyes.

In this world, no one had ever been this kind to her except her mother.

And yet this person was Jiang Li.

He was a man who would never marry her, never grow old with her. All this tenderness of his was just a beautiful bubble—

something to make one fear it would burst at any moment.

Jiang Li, however, did not notice Xu Anan’s emotion. Thinking of her headache, he swiftly got dressed and went to the kitchen to see to breakfast.

Xu Anan realized only afterward that she had once again been worn out completely by Jiang Li.

What a wild man—his stamina was beyond words.

She rubbed her waist and went into the bathroom to wash up.

Before long, Jiang Li prepared breakfast and brought it out, urging her to drink the hangover soup first. “If you want to drink again, just tell me and I’ll go with you.”

“Also, don’t go to that bar downstairs anymore.”

Xu Anan looked dazed. Had she really said anything like that last night?

Seeing how silly and sweet she looked, Jiang Li couldn’t help but smile. “Not hungry? If you’re not, I’m going to drag you into doing something else.”

“Jiang Li, you’re not afraid of that thing?” Xu Anan was too embarrassed to even say the word.

He raised an eyebrow. “I’m taking you down to feed the cats. We still need to give them hairball paste and bathe them, too.”

Xu Anan nearly choked; why did he sound so certain?

After breakfast, he truly did drag her along to finish the chore—there were far too many cats.

For Xu Anan, who loved cats, it was not a hardship, only tiring.

After a long while she was so worn out she could barely stand straight, nearly slipping on her feet. She had just enough quickness to clutch Jiang Li in time.

Jiang Li kept his footing steady; otherwise he might have been pulled over too.

One hand cradling her narrow waist, he said, “If you’re tired, sit and rest. Don’t push yourself.”

“And what about you?”

“With so much care for me, why wouldn’t I rest too?”

Watching Xu Anan’s face flush deeper, Jiang Li guided her to a bench to rest. The sunlight was perfect, and they sat bathed in it.

He even went inside again and brought out two cans of ice-cold cola.

He popped them open and handed one over. “Drink some.”

“It’s a rare weekend. Want to have hotpot at home?” After sipping, Xu Anan immediately thought of bubbling, fiery broth and swallowed hard.

Jiang Li nodded. “We’ll stop by the supermarket soon. The ingredients in the fridge aren’t enough.”

She wanted to say, If you just called Assistant Wang, everything would be taken care of.

But she didn’t say it. Deep inside, she still wanted to go shopping with Jiang Li.

With that thought, after finishing her cola she worked even harder.

“Come on, all of you, into the bath now, or there won’t be any tiny dried-fish snacks left later!”

She even shook two premium packets of tiny fish snacks, and at once the cats swarmed around. Still, it was Jiang Li who lifted her in one arm.

“No baths now. Let me have Assistant Wang send someone later. For now, come upstairs and change clothes—we’ll go to the supermarket.”

“Ah? Are we going now?”

Xu Anan threw her arms around Jiang Li in a bear hug. It was quite pleasant not to have to walk.

Jiang Li seemed to enjoy it, holding her like a child and facing her closely. “Let’s go early; there may be a lot we need to buy.”

In truth, he wanted to shop with Xu Anan as well.

Assistant Wang always complained that people in love were supposed to shop together.

Jiang Li had now even allowed Assistant Wang to read novels during working hours, since he was too lazy to read himself and could ask Wang to pick out the essentials.

They changed into casual clothes.

When Xu Anan saw Jiang Li, she froze for a second, then glanced down at her skirt. No matter how she thought about it, they looked like a pair.

Couple outfits?

Thinking that all these clothes had been prepared by Jiang Li, Xu Anan’s feelings turned strange and tender.

Jiang Li flicked her forehead lightly. “Still lost in thought? Let’s go.”

On a normal day she would have insisted on going back to finish what she started, but now she stayed obediently at his side, soft and close.

As the car passed the bar, Xu Anan went completely still, wondering if her eyes had betrayed her.

She rubbed them and widened them wider.

That bar was gone, flattened out completely.

“N-no… could this be your doing?”

“How could it be?”

With one hand on the steering wheel, Jiang Li reached to stroke Xu Anan’s hair and said with a teasing smile, “For a matter this small, would I really need to do it myself?”

She let out a laugh at that, thinking there was a touch of conceited charm in his tone.

“But you’re perfectly normal. Why would you tear down someone’s business? That’s really not right. My own alcohol tolerance was bad.”

“It wasn’t your tolerance,” Jiang Li said, his eyes darkening. “He deliberately added hard liquor.”

He had heard Xu Anan talking in her sleep last night, and learned that she had gone to the nearby bar and drunk, then asked why she said the alcohol level was clearly low.

So he sent people to investigate.

Through the footage, he could clearly see what tricks the owner had done.

Now that she knew the truth, Xu Anan no longer felt any pity for Benedict—especially after finding out Benedict had even had his eye on Jiang Li.

Even less forgivable.

As soon as they reached the supermarket, Jiang Li promptly wheeled out a shopping cart and let Xu Anan buy as much as she liked.

Xu Anan, determined not to hold back with him, dashed ahead like a butterfly and nearly ran into someone.
