Chapter 165: No Matter Your Age, Long Live Happiness
Xu An'an frowned tightly, though she maintained her patience. "A misunderstanding? Wronged? The evidence is absolute; how could it be a misunderstanding? Did you hear something incorrectly?"
Wen Huairou brought up the time she had previously seen Ning Xiyue going to the gynecology department for a prenatal checkup with another man. "I am entirely certain that the child in Ning Xiyue's belly is not Ah-Yu's at all. Ah-Yu is just being used as a scapegoat to take the blame; Ah-Yu has been wronged."
This news was certainly explosive.
Xu An'an did not immediately believe Wen Huairou. "Really? If the child isn't Jiang Yu's, then why didn't he deny it at the time?"
"That just means the two of them did sleep together."
"Since he's tainted, naturally I won't want him."
Wen Huairou frowned, seeming to disagree with Xu An'an, but she did not press the matter further because Jiang Li walked out, followed closely by Haohao.
Jiang Li said, "Mom took her medicine and is already asleep."
"Now I'm taking Haohao to the amusement park."
"Right now? But I still have to go to work," Wen Huairou widened her eyes. "Besides, I can't find anyone to cover my shift on such short notice. How about—"
"I am taking Haohao to the amusement park," Jiang Li interrupted Wen Huairou. "Does Haohao want to go to the amusement park right this second?"
Haohao hesitated for a moment.
Wen Huairou quietly nudged Haohao with her hand, signaling him not to agree at a time like this.
Yet Haohao was, after all, just a child, easily tempted by fun things and tasty treats. He nodded his head like a pecking chick. "Yes, yes, yes! I want to go to the amusement park right now!"
Wen Huairou's smile froze on her lips, a trace of ferocity flashing deep within her eyes.
However, no one cared about how Wen Huairou felt. Jiang Li took Xu An'an's hand, their fingers intertwined as usual, while his other hand remained slipped into his pocket.
"Then let's roll."
"Yay!"
Haohao hopped along cheerfully ahead of them.
Anyone who didn't know better would have thought Jiang Li, Xu An'an, and Haohao were a family of three.
Left behind, Wen Huairou was filled with resentment. They were supposed to be taking her instead—what use was raising a son like this!
Xu An'an initially tried to pull her hand free from Jiang Li's grasp, but alas, he was holding on too tightly.
"What are you doing?"
"What am I doing?" Jiang Li asked with an innocent face, his gaze dropping to Xu An'an's stomach. "Didn't we not use that thing last night? Who knows, you might already be carrying my seed in there, so what's wrong with holding hands?"
Xu An'an's face flushed hot with embarrassment, and she hurriedly reached out to cover Jiang Li's mouth.
She glanced over at Haohao and breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that the boy was distracted by a toy in his hands and hadn't paid attention to what they were saying.
She still glared at Jiang Li, gritting her teeth as she hissed, "Yesterday was my safe period."
"Then tonight, can we also—"
"No way!"
Xu An'an angrily shook off Jiang Li's hand. "Besides, I never said I wanted to go to the amusement park."
Jiang Li smiled brightly. "Then where do you want to go?"
"It's bizarre—aren't you supposed to be taking Haohao to the amusement park?"
"We can go wherever you want first."
"..."
Xu An'an noticed that at some point, Haohao had started looking up at her with big, pleading eyes, as if saying, *Auntie, I want to go to the amusement park.*
With no other choice, Xu An'an could only agree to go to the amusement park.
Upon entering the amusement park, Haohao acted like a wild horse that had broken free from its reins.
Fortunately, Jiang Li had the foresight to bring Assistant Wang along to help wrangle the unruly child, leaving him free to leisurely take Xu An'an around to enjoy the attractions.
Finding that Jiang Li was leading her to line up for the carousel, Xu An'an's face turned beet red.
Because in the entire queue, they were the only two adults!
Xu An'an was dying of embarrassment and lowered her voice. "Jiang Li, what are you playing at?"
Jiang Li raised an eyebrow. "I understand."
Thinking Jiang Li understood what she meant and preparing to slip away from the line, Xu An'an was instead pulled by him in a different direction.
As it turned out, he had simply purchased a super VIP pass, allowing them to bypass the line entirely.
Sitting inside the pumpkin carriage, Xu An'an covered her face with her hands. "Do you even understand what I mean? Everyone else here is around five years old, why are we adults joining in on the fun?"
"No matter what age, long live happiness," Jiang Li said earnestly.
Xu An'an froze.
Why did that sentence sound somewhat familiar?
She suddenly recalled that around her birthday last year, her magazine office had held a team-building event at this very amusement park, and she had secretly wanted to ride the carousel at the time.
Yet surrounded by children, she could never bring herself to join the queue.
She had posted a photo on her anonymous diary account with the caption: *[No matter what age, long live happiness! Haha, just kidding, even though I really want to ride the carousel, I'm still too much of a shy adult for that!]*
Xu An'an wanted to ask Jiang Li why he said that.
Then again, she figured her account was so well-hidden that it should be impossible for Jiang Li to discover it—after all, Jiang Li didn't strike her as the type to use an online confessional space.
Whenever that guy felt annoyed, he simply vented his frustrations directly.
And nobody dared to offend him anyway.
That confessional space had recently introduced a visitor history feature; Xu An'an made up her mind to check it again tonight when she got back. If anyone had visited, she would finally know who it was.
Could it be Jiang Li?
Jiang Li bit back a smile and turned his gaze outward.
After spinning on the carousel for a few rounds, Xu An'an strongly insisted on getting off, just as several young girls nearby were looking on with eager eyes, wishing they could ride the pumpkin carriage.
Yet Jiang Li simply ignored them, standing completely motionless.
He even maintained a look that said *strangers keep away*.
"It seems you really do love your son; you have no pity for a fair maiden at all," Xu An'an muttered softly.
"What did you say?" Jiang Li happened to return from a nearby stall holding milk tea with inserted straws. "Here, every other little girl has one."
*My girl naturally has to have one, too.*
Only then did Xu An'an notice that near the milk tea shop entrance stood mostly young couples, with the girlfriends acting spoiled as they demanded milk tea while the boyfriends dug into their wallets to satisfy them.
"I never said I wanted to drink any."
"Then I'll drink it myself."
"..."
"Just kidding, here you go."
As if afraid Jiang Li might take back the cup of milk tea, Xu An'an hastily snatched it and took a sip first. "I've already drunk from it, it has my spit in it!"
To her surprise, Jiang Li leaned in close and took a sip of the milk tea as well.
He grinned mischievously. "How many times have we French kissed anyway?"
"Jiang Li!"
Xu An'an wished she could poison Jiang Li mute. Saying such brazenly bold things out in public! Her face flushed bright red as she sprinted ahead.
Jiang Li followed along with a smile.
With his long legs, it was always effortless for him to catch up to Xu An'an.
"Hey, this way."
Noticing Xu An'an was heading down the wrong path, he grabbed the back collar of her shirt, hoisting her up like a little chick, and redirected her toward the correct way.
Girls on the roadside were filled with envy. "Look at that weakling boyfriend of yours, and then look at him—his boyfriend energy is overflowing!"
"The key is that the girl is super skinny, alright."
A boyfriend muttered, "Skinny is skinny, but her curves are all in the right places."
"Where are you looking?!"
And that young couple instantly started arguing.
Xu An'an glanced sideways at Jiang Li, then swept her gaze around their surroundings, realizing that Jiang Li truly stood out like a crane among chickens—broad shoulders, a slender waist, narrow hips, and a height approaching 1.9 meters, giving him a near-perfect bodily proportion.
Walking beside him, she truly felt a sense of reflected glory.
Noticing Xu An'an stealing glances at him, Jiang Li reached out, wrapped his arm around her slim waist, and leaned down slightly, his warm breath brushing against the tip of her ear.
"What, feeling very proud of your man?"
