Chapter 19: Which Eye Saw Her Cry?
“What are you doing!” Jiang Li leaned back, rubbing his forehead.
Xu An’an was also rubbing her forehead. She had only wanted to take a closer look because Jiang Li’s expression seemed off. Usually, Jiang Li always wore a cold face, or else he was busy teasing her.
He never showed such an indescribable look!
As if he were shy, as if he were savoring something.
It was truly a rare sight!
If she could, Xu An’an would have loved to secretly snap a photo with her phone.
“I just think you’re becoming more and more extraordinary, Second Master Jiang,” Xu An’an covered her mouth, stifling a laugh, and quickly slipped away before Jiang Li could lose his temper.
After breakfast, Xu An’an hurried to the hospital.
Shen Ying hadn’t arrived yet.
Xu An’an pulled out her phone to check if there was any news about what Jiang Li had mentioned, only to see the trending topics filled with Huanyu and Ning Xiyue.

Xu An’an truly hadn’t expected it—Jiang Li really did abandon Huanyu. As far as she knew, Huanyu made more than a billion a year!
And Ning Xiyue—she was a top-tier actress with huge popularity!
Who would have thought that after just one night, everything would be turned upside down!
Why?
Xu An’an was utterly confused.
She didn’t believe Jiang Li had let things escalate to this point just to help her; there had to be many things she didn’t know.
Still, the Jiang family must be in chaos by now!
She wondered how Jiang Li would handle it—he must have been prepared.
“You’re early,” Shen Ying appeared unhurriedly, forever wearing that insincere smile at the corner of her mouth. “I just spoke with Dr. Wang. Basically, we can confirm your mother’s sudden condition is a complication. I’ve already thought of a treatment, but your mother is too weak—she’ll need to recover for a while first.”
Xu An’an lowered her eyes, looking obedient and demure.
“Alright, I’ll listen to your arrangements.”
Shen Ying was very satisfied with this. “Have you heard about what happened with Huanyu? The Jiang family is a mess today. Come with me.”
Xu An’an was surprised. Why was she being asked to go?
But she had no room to refuse.
Shen Ying made a show of checking on Xu’s mother, then stood with her back to the ICU glass, her expression turning vicious and sinister. “Isn’t living like this worse than dying? But don’t worry—I’ll make sure you live in pain, and your daughter will serve me her whole life.”
In her sleep, Xu’s mother’s fingertips twitched.
The heart monitor spiked dramatically for a second.
The Jiang family was shrouded in a gloomy atmosphere. The main reason: Jiang Yu’s favored Ning Xiyue had become embroiled in a scandal, causing the Jiang Corporation’s stock to plummet and their reputation to be tarnished.
Yet Jiang Yu was still adamant: “Yue’er is innocent!”
“Mom, Dad, don’t you know what kind of person Yue’er is? If it weren’t for her, your son would have died long ago!”
“Now she’s being slandered and defamed like this—are we just going to sit back and do nothing?!”
Looking at Jiang Yu’s crazed devotion to this woman, the old master’s face grew dark, wishing he could thrash him with his cane. “Jiang Yu, you’d better think carefully about what you’re saying.”
“Have you forgotten you have a fiancée!”
Jiang’s mother quickly chimed in, “Dad, don’t get angry. It’s normal for Xiao Yu to protect Xiyue. After all, our family owes her.”
Father and Mother Jiang were in agreement.
No matter whether the rumors were true or false, they could not stand by and ignore Ning Xiyue.
“The most important thing now is to suppress these scandals quickly and find out who leaked them.”
“It’s Xu An’an, isn’t it?” A cold glint flashed in Jiang’s mother’s eyes.
She hadn’t expected Xu An’an to be so tough, daring to report such things. “I wonder if she really wants to marry into our family—she shows no consideration for us at all.”
While everyone was talking over one another, Jiang Li remained silent.
His expression was the picture of indifference.
Until Shen Ying arrived with Xu An’an.
Shen Ying still had no idea what was going on—Jiang’s mother had told her to bring Xu An’an over, so she simply obeyed. “Hello, Elder Jiang.”
Xu An’an greeted everyone politely.
Only to be glared at fiercely by Jiang Yu. “Xu An’an, come outside with me.”
“Well, go on—what are you waiting for?” Shen Ying gave Xu An’an a push.
Xu An’an followed Jiang Yu to the garden.
Jiang Yu struggled to control his anger. “Don’t tell me you didn’t know Huanyu is owned by the Jiang family.”
“So what? Does that mean Huanyu allows bullying? Is the Jiang Corporation above the law? Do you think you can do whatever you want?” Xu An’an was unflinching, convinced she had done nothing wrong.
Even though he was fuming, Jiang Yu couldn’t refute a word.
But what infuriated him more was Xu An’an’s uncontrollable defiance.
“This time, I’ll let it go. But in the future, can’t you talk to me before you do anything? I am your fiancé—do I really have to remind you?”
Suddenly remembering something, Jiang Yu grabbed Xu An’an’s hand.
He noticed the bracelet she wore was not the same as the one he’d seen that night, and finally relaxed.
“What are you doing?”
Xu An’an jerked her hand away in disgust, feeling as if his touch had sullied her. She wanted to chop her hand off!
But she also realized—the bracelet wasn’t her usual one.
It must have happened after she woke up at Jiang Li’s place, when she’d absentmindedly put it on because the two bracelets looked similar.
Had Jiang Li intended it as a gift for another woman, only for her to take it by mistake?
“Do you know about Xiyue’s situation?” Jiang Yu asked.
In truth, Ning Xiyue’s affair and the bullying scandal weren’t directly related, but both had exploded in succession, all targeting Huanyu.
Xu An’an shook her head, calm and composed.
“I only heard about it on the news this morning. Is it true or not?”
“Of course it’s false!”
Jiang Yu wanted to say more, but received a call from Ning Xiyue. He hurried away, comforting her as he went: “Don’t cry, Yue’er. My heart breaks when you cry. It’ll be alright—I promise you!”
Xu An’an rolled her eyes extravagantly.
A gust of wind blew grit into her eye. She quickly rubbed it, making her eyes red and teary, appearing as if she were crying from sorrow.
At that exact moment, Jiang Li appeared, his tone cool and detached. “What’s the point of crying behind people’s backs? If you have the guts, cry to their faces.”
Xu An’an was rendered speechless.
Which eye of his saw her crying?
But she couldn’t be bothered to explain.
“I never meant to make such a scene. I just wanted justice for DouDou.”
“But I did.”
A hint of displeasure flickered in Jiang Li’s eyes, though it was quickly replaced by his usual calm. “You, on the other hand—why do you like trash? Such poor taste.”
“If you get cheated on, you’ve no one to blame but yourself.”
