Chapter 66: The Ancestor’s Spirit Has Blessed Me
Although Qin Hongfei had only recently returned to this era, she had spent more than twenty years in another world, and her experience in scientific research, honed from a young age, was not for nothing. To truly learn scientific research, one had to thoroughly understand the development of the field from beginning to end.
She knew very well that even though the internet was just beginning to develop in the nineties and computer teachers might have limited knowledge, it was impossible for them to be completely unaware of how difficult it was to create a new system.
Most likely, someone had shamelessly claimed the achievements of this young man before her as their own—a type of person commonly found everywhere!
A student’s research report, once noticed by a teacher, would be registered under the teacher’s own name.
Jiang Wan stared blankly, saying, “That’s impossible. My teacher is a good person.”
Qin Hongfei was only speculating and would not be so absolute with her words—if she were wrong, it would be embarrassing. “You can look up relevant reports and do your own research when you get back; I’m just making a general guess. As for the new system, don’t doubt your own abilities. The bugs in a new system are usually just a few: incompatibility, viruses, and the inability to boot to the main desktop. As long as you solve the boot issue first, you can deal with compatibility problems later.”
Pausing, she asked, “Do you have pen and paper?”
Jiang Wan shook his head instinctively.
Qin Hongfei stood up. “Watch the stall for me, I’ll go buy some.”
She returned from a nearby shop with pen and paper, then began to write. Half an hour later, she handed the notebook to Jiang Wan casually. “I’ve written down all the possible problems a new system might encounter. You can rule them out step-by-step. That should do it.”
Jiang Wan was bewildered.
He opened the notebook.
It was filled with computational coursework.
Is she really this incredible?
But...
But the troubleshooting steps were written so simply that he couldn’t help but wonder—could the problems really be solved so easily? “Kid, you’re not just making this up to fool me, are you?”
Qin Hongfei could understand his doubts and replied calmly, “You don’t need to worry about that. In your current state, there’s nothing about you worth the trouble of deceiving.” No money, no looks. “Now, please step aside, you’re blocking my business.”
Embarrassed, Jiang Wan stood up and moved to the side, wanting to say something more, but new customers had arrived. Qin Hongfei greeted them, paying him no further attention, and he could only clutch the notebook hesitantly and leave.
The new customers only asked about prices and bought nothing, so they soon left. Qin Hongfei turned and saw that Jiang Wan had also disappeared. Her clear eyes remained calm as she wondered whether this fellow would make use of what she’d written. To her, the notes were just common knowledge, but to Jiang Wan, they might be a lifeline.
Qin Hongfei wasn’t just being randomly kind...
It was simply because someone had once helped her in this way! Sometimes, a small gesture from oneself could mean saving someone else’s life. Besides, Jiang Wan might not believe her, and even if he did, he might not use her advice. If he did, then it was his own good fortune. With this thought, Qin Hongfei returned to her own affairs.
As she had said, she looked young and lacked authority, so others might not trust what she wrote. Jiang Wan, after taking the notebook home, didn’t think much of it either. He clung to his last bit of hope as he tinkered with his system, but after a whole night of failure and a splitting headache, he caught sight of the notebook and, almost against his will, flipped it open. Realizing what he was doing, he gave a bitter laugh.
“Jiang Wan, oh Jiang Wan, you’re really grasping at straws now. That kid is just a child—how could she possibly understand something as deep as computing…”
“But, at this point, what harm is there in trying? The worst that can happen is another failure. Who knows—maybe my ancestors will bless me with some luck.”
