Chapter 129: A Mutual Defeat
"Fourth Spirit Ability: White Tiger Meteor Shower!"
Dai Mubai let out a thunderous tiger roar toward the heavens. Countless golden orbs of light, each the size of a fist, descended from the sky like falling meteorites, locking onto Iao, who had transformed into a bat, and smashed down with ferocious intensity.
Iao flapped his wings, darting through the gaps in the meteor shower, desperately evading the orbs, each of which contained a tenth of Dai Mubai's total offensive power.
"Don't even think about it! My White Tiger Meteor Shower has a lock-on function. It will not disappear until it strikes its target!" Dai Mubai wore a triumphant smile. "I have already won this match!"
"That remains to be seen!"
Iao, in his bat form, spoke in a human voice. His body suddenly surged forward, flying straight toward Dai Mubai.
"He’s trying to drag Boss Dai down with him! It seems he is well aware of his own spirit power reserves!"
Below the stage, Tang San sneered, "How foolish. Boss Dai’s fourth spirit ability is locked onto him, not Boss Dai. Just because he can't dodge doesn't mean Boss Dai can't!"
Flender also pushed up his glasses with a smug look, "A deathbed struggle!"
As for Yu Xiaogang, he had yet to recover from his recent humiliation. He sat in his seat with his head bowed, not saying a word. From start to finish, he didn't even look up at the match; after all, if Dai Mubai won, it was due to his own strength, having nothing to do with any guidance from Yu Xiaogang.
"First Spirit Ability: Giant Python Constriction!"
Just then, a flash of yellow light erupted from the low-flying Iao. He transformed into a python several meters long, moving with blinding speed. In an instant, he vanished from his original spot, leaving only a faint afterimage behind.
"Boss Dai, to your left—"
Iao’s speed was immense, but his trajectory was caught by the Purple Demon Eye of Tang San. Tang San stood up almost subconsciously, ready to alert Dai Mubai.
Fortunately, Flender, standing nearby, was quick to react and immediately covered Tang San’s mouth. If they lost the match, so be it, but if Tang San interfered from the sidelines, their Shrek Academy would never be allowed to participate in the Spirit Master Tournament again.
Feeling Flender’s hand, Tang San realized his mistake and sat back down, feeling deeply frustrated.
The greatest trait of a python was its ability to coil. Once Dai Mubai was entangled by the transformed Iao, the inevitable result would be that both of them would suffer the full brunt of the White Tiger Meteor Shower. This match was likely to end in mutual destruction.
The situation on the stage unfolded exactly as Tang San had predicted. The python form of Iao wrapped itself around Dai Mubai’s tiger body with lightning speed. Dai Mubai swung his tiger claws, struggling desperately to break free. It wasn't that he couldn't escape—their spirit power levels were nearly identical, and given enough time, he would certainly break free. But the problem was that his own attack possessed a homing function, leaving him almost no time to react.
Seconds after Iao coiled around him, the White Tiger Meteor Shower descended upon them.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Countless meteors formed from spirit power rained down upon the arena. A massive amount of debris and dust was blasted into the air by the force of the explosions, obscuring everyone's vision.
When the smoke finally cleared, two figures were visible on the stage: one barely managed to stand, while the other lay slumped on the ground.
The person lying on the ground was Dai Mubai. His condition was even more miserable than Iao's; he was drenched in blood, with multiple fractures throughout his body. Because Iao had managed to dive behind Dai Mubai at the last moment, the vast majority of the spirit power attacks had struck him.
However, because the White Tiger Meteor Shower had fallen from above, even though Iao had hidden behind Dai Mubai, he could not have possibly hoisted Dai Mubai over his head to block every single attack in such a hurried state. Having absorbed a portion of the attack, Iao was also bleeding from multiple wounds, his face deathly pale and his strength completely exhausted.
The referee stepped forward to confirm their conditions and immediately announced, "Dai Mubai is unconscious. Iao is the winner. Shrek Academy, please send your next contestant."
"Referee, I concede!"
Just then, Iao raised his hand. He was well aware of his own state; he knew he couldn't even handle a basic spirit master at this point.
The referee nodded; Iao's concession was within his expectations. As a referee, he had to be ready to rescue contestants from life-threatening situations at any moment, so he was a powerful spirit master himself. He could tell at a glance that Iao was at the end of his rope.
"Iao of Nine Star Academy concedes. Nine Star Academy, please send your second contestant!"
Shrek Academy and Nine Star Academy both sent people to carry away the unconscious Dai Mubai and the weakened Iao, while simultaneously sending their next fighters onto the stage.
The next contestant for Shrek Academy was Tai Long, while Nine Star Academy sent out Xie Wu.
"Another guy we've never seen before!"
Seeing Xie Wu take the stage, Flender, Tang San, and the others all frowned. They felt the situation was spiraling completely away from the plan they had made yesterday. As for Yu Xiaogang, he continued to play the ostrich, sitting there in silence.
"Tai Long, stick to the plan we agreed upon!" Tang San, unsure of his opponent, decided to stick to the original strategy and shouted toward Tai Long, who had not yet reached the arena.
"Yes, Young Master!"
Under the earnest tutelage of the loyal old servant Titan, Tai Long had become Tang San's...
