“Hmph, just putting on airs.”
Second Aunt muttered under her breath.
Everyone simply smiled in silence; no one spoke. To ignore was the greatest form of doubt.
Jiang Yu stood up and addressed the old master Jiang, “Grandfather, I’ll go back and rest now.”
The old man sighed, “Little Yu, you’ve suffered these past few years. In a few days, I’ll have a room prepared for you again.”
A faint voice sounded from outside the door.
“No need. In a few days, I’ll be moving out of the Jiang family.”
...

The following day, the Jiang household was bustling with excitement.
On November 1st, Jiang Shaoqi and Zheng Xuan announced their engagement in grand fashion, shaking all of Cloud City.
As a rising star, the Jiang family drew the attention of many families and business tycoons. The uproar had been brewing for days.
Meanwhile, a piece of gossip spread throughout high society: Jiang Shaoqi’s fiancée, Zheng Xuan, had originally been engaged to Jiang Yu. She had broken the engagement in person, and that very day was betrothed to Jiang Shaoqi instead.
In simpler terms, Jiang Yu had just been dumped, and his ex-fiancée had immediately found herself a more accomplished husband—right before his eyes.
This joke inevitably made the rounds, and on the day of Zheng Xuan and Jiang Shaoqi’s engagement, it was known throughout Cloud City, even reaching the neighboring Golden City.
The venue was the Silvi Hotel.
Guests arrived from all directions, luxury cars lined the entrance like clouds: BMWs, Audis, and other high-end vehicles were everywhere. There were even a few Ferraris F12 and Lamborghini Gallardos worth millions, their vibrant colors drawing every eye.
Not only guests from Cloud City, but many of the Zheng family’s business partners from Golden City also made time to attend. The remainder were mostly the younger generation—sons of wealthy families and scions of fortune—if one didn’t have a net worth of several million, it was almost embarrassing to mingle in such circles.
Zheng Xuan was meticulously dressed in a black deep-V gown, the hem just covering her high heels, her slender legs casting a seductive curve beneath the dress.
Her long hair was elegantly pinned up, her features exquisite, her bright eyes and pearly teeth lending her the noble air of a princess. Atop her head sat a pure platinum tiara, and her alluring attire made her the focus of the entire hall.
Jiang Shaoqi wore a snow-white suit, his hair carefully styled, a burgundy bow tie at his collar, his tall, straight figure standing beside Zheng Xuan as if they were a match made in heaven.
“It should have been Jiang Master standing with Zheng Xuan to receive everyone’s blessings.”
A burly man curled his lip in disdain, withdrawing his gaze.
Head Wolf smiled faintly, “Zheng Xuan missing out on Jiang Master is the greatest loss of her life.”
Elsewhere, Yuan Shixiong shook his head with a smile, “Zheng Xuan, do you even know what you’ve missed? If you were to learn the truth, I fear you’d break down on the spot.”
In the crowd, several complex gazes lingered on Zheng Xuan.

At the entrance of the banquet hall, the herald boys called out the arriving guests: “The Li family from Golden City is here!”
A few minutes later, another announcement: “The Zhang family from Golden City is here!”
A host of well-dressed magnates entered the hall. One glance revealed over a hundred tables set, suggesting the sheer scale of the banquet.
“The Han family from Golden City is here!”
“Xia family—Xia Qinghan is here!”
“Xia family—Xia Ning is here!”
Jiang Yu and Jiang Ziyue sat together at a corner table, silent.
After a long while, Jiang Ziyue looked up at Jiang Yu and asked in a low voice, “Do you hate the Jiang family now?”
Jiang Yu, unmoved by his surroundings, replied in an even tone, “Why should I hate the Jiang family? It was Zheng Xuan’s choice. If she didn’t want it, who could force her? The world may not know me, may not recognize a dragon when they see one. Missing out on me is her greatest loss.”
Jiang Ziyue shook her head, “You’ve changed—you’re unreadable now. If this were the old you, you’d have made a scene at the banquet today, blaming the world for treating you unfairly, cursing Zheng Xuan for being heartless. Jiang Yu, I’m curious—do you still have something up your sleeve?”
Jiang Yu smiled, “When a person becomes strong enough, they realize what they once pursued was nothing but passing mist.”
Jiang Ziyue took a deep breath, “True. You now know Xia Ning, and you’re Lin Dong’s disciple. You do have reasons for people to take you seriously. But remember, they’re just friends. They can help you for a while, not for a lifetime.”
Jiang Yu laughed, “Then tell me, what level must I reach to truly stand above all?”
Jiang Ziyue gestured calmly at the wealthy guests behind her, “This era doesn’t belong to Xia Ning or Xia Qinghan yet. At least not for another decade or so, until those people retire and the stage becomes theirs. For now, the world is still ruled by those tycoons. You need to know people like them to have real confidence.”
“Any one of them wields tremendous power and fortune. Connections among the younger generation are always lacking in depth. Do you know them? I doubt even one of them would spare you a second glance.”
Jiang Yu shook his head with a smile, his gaze suddenly turning sharp, “You can’t imagine what I’m capable of.”
Jiang Ziyue had heard such words too many times, and she no longer bothered to argue. He could think whatever he liked.
Just then, Xia Ning walked over gracefully and greeted Jiang Yu with a smile, “You’ve arrived.”
Xia Qinghan also sat down on Jiang Yu’s other side, her tone oddly meaningful, “Now that most in Cloud City know you were Zheng Xuan’s real fiancé, yet you’re sitting here so nonchalantly, aren’t you going to do anything?”
Jiang Yu picked up his teacup, took a sip, and asked with a smile, “What do you think I should do?”
Xia Qinghan was about to reply when several voices of laughter came from behind.
Everyone turned to see a group of richly dressed young men walking over, led by Zheng Xuan. At the front was a young man in a hip-hop cap and beach shorts, with the others clearly revolving around him.
“Han, come sit over here,”
Zheng Xuan said excitedly, sitting beside Young Master Han and making no move to leave.
Jiang Shaoqi joined them as well.

Now came the problem: the table was only big enough for eight, and with Young Master Han’s group arriving, there weren’t enough seats.
Zheng Xuan frowned and spoke in displeasure, “Jiang Yu, can’t you see who’s supposed to sit at this table? Find another seat, let Young Master Li have yours.”
Jiang Yu replied calmly, “If there aren’t enough seats, have them find a different table.”
The man called Young Master Li was skinny, with a thick gold chain around his neck. Chuckling, he said, “Xuan Xuan, it seems your word doesn’t count for much here.”
Sitting across from Jiang Yu, Young Master Han also frowned and lowered his voice, “Kid, didn’t you hear what Zheng Xuan said?”
Jiang Ziyue felt uncomfortable, but she couldn’t afford to offend these people. Helplessly, she tried to persuade Jiang Yu, “Jiang Yu, let’s just move to another table.”
Her worst fear had come to pass.
Jiang Yu shook his head lightly, “If they want this seat, have Young Master Han’s father come beg me in person.”
Young Master Han was stunned, his eyes growing dark. He immediately stood up, “What did you just say, punk?”
Before Jiang Yu could answer, Xia Qinghan slapped the table, her pretty face frosty, “Han Yangyu, do you believe I can keep you from leaving Cloud City today?”
No one expected Xia Qinghan to react so strongly, even to the point of being ready to break off all decorum. The commotion drew plenty of attention—when people saw it was Xia Qinghan, many were intrigued.
Han Yangyu sneered, standing up to face her, “Xia Qinghan, I know your family’s status in Jiangbei, but that was years ago. The Xia family’s infighting has long since weakened you. Today, I want to see just how you alone can keep me from leaving Cloud City.”
Young Master Li and his friends laughed, “Don’t think everyone’s afraid of the Xia family. If you’ve got guts, come to Golden City and try us!”
At that moment, another cool voice joined in, “What if you add me to the mix?”
Xia Ning slowly stood up, her expression icy. The two sisters, both of unparalleled beauty, looked like celestial beings.
She turned, raised her voice, and announced to the crowd, “Anyone who wants to change tables today will have to ask the Xia family first. What of the Li family from Golden City? What of the Han family? In Cloud City, the Xia family has the final say.”
Her words brimmed with dominance.
The situation was escalating—no one had expected the two Xia heiresses, usually indifferent to each other, to react so fiercely for Jiang Yu’s sake.
Han Yangyu was taken aback. He didn’t fear Xia Qinghan alone, but with Xia Ning as well, he had to think twice before doing anything rash.
Zheng Xuan’s face darkened, her fingers clenched tight.
After speaking, Xia Ning turned to Zheng Xuan and smiled, “Zheng Xuan, I really must thank you for breaking off your engagement to Jiang Yu. It’s not that Jiang Yu isn’t good enough...”
Then she enunciated every word, “It’s that you are not worthy of him!”
