“Something’s wrong!”

Just as Wang Zhenling realized this, a thunderous explosion rang out. Glass shattered as several stun grenades were thrown inside. The intense flash blinded him instantly, while a piercing, shrill noise battered his eardrums, causing his vision to darken and his balance to falter.

Liu Yun and Madam Ma lost their footing almost immediately, collapsing to the ground.

At this moment, all of Wang Zhenling’s sensory awareness was stripped away.

Yet, having stepped halfway into the Out-of-Body Realm, his qi had already solidified to fortify his spiritual chamber.

Although his primordial spirit was fragile, it was still protected by official qi, enabling it to wander beyond the body.

Though his physical senses were disabled, his primordial spirit remained intact, unaffected.

He no longer relied on sensory consciousness to command his body, but rather, his primordial spirit governed it, perceiving through a “mind’s eye.”

He clearly “saw” that as the stun grenades detonated, fully armed personnel equipped with earplugs and goggles stormed in through the broken windows and doors.

It seemed they intended to seize those inside the room.

Madam Ma and Liu Yun were subdued almost instantly, while one of the armed men lunged toward Wang Zhenling.

Wang Zhenling’s mind’s eye observed from a lofty vantage point, scanning a full 360 degrees without a blind spot.

The attacker reached out to grab him but inexplicably found only air.

Wang Zhenling then pushed the man’s chest with a single palm, sending a chill like biting ice coursing through his body.

The armed man instantly felt his limbs stiffen as if frozen solid and collapsed.

Like a specter, Wang Zhenling moved swiftly toward the two soldiers controlling Madam Ma and Liu Yun, dispatching each with the same palm strike.

The yin-infused energy from his palm surged into their bodies, shattering their internal yin-yang balance. They were overwhelmed by a sudden coldness, their blood seeming to freeze.

Though much has been described, only about ten seconds had passed.

The blinding light and shrill noise from the stun grenades were just beginning to fade.

At the same moment, Wang Zhenling slipped out through the window and vanished.

Almost simultaneously, gunshots rang out—several tranquilizer darts were fired at the spot where Wang Zhenling had just stood.

“What elite soldiers! Their reflexes are incredibly fast. But it seems they intend to capture me alive, not kill...” Wang Zhenling mused inwardly, his figure already swallowed by the darkness outside the building, seeking cover in the shadows.

---

Modern weapons equipped with infrared night vision and even thermal imaging were no joke.

These armed men wielded top-tier weaponry.

They fired almost continuously at Wang Zhenling, and even with his speed, it was impossible to dodge every shot.

Fortunately, these were tranquilizer darts, not lethal bullets.

Wang Zhenling unleashed his true qi, attempting to form a protective gale to intercept the darts.

But as soon as his qi left his body, it dissipated into the air without coalescing into wind.

This unexpected occurrence greatly startled him.

There was no time to react further as several darts struck his body.

His primordial spirit, operating from a lofty vantage point, watched as the darts embedded themselves within, the anesthetic spreading rapidly through his bloodstream.

Had Wang Zhenling still been governed by sensory consciousness, the anesthetic would have knocked him unconscious immediately.

Even circulating true qi to dispel the anesthetic would have been impossible.

But now, his primordial spirit controlled his body.

This state, to put it bluntly, was somewhat like being possessed.

Viewing his own body from a third-person perspective, the anesthetic could affect the physical nervous system, which belonged to sensory consciousness—but it had no impact whatsoever on his primordial spirit.

Despite the anesthetic, he moved freely.

Moreover, his circulating true qi began to purge the drugs.

“Damn, is this even human?” The armed men firing at Wang Zhenling gaped in disbelief, unable to fathom that someone hit by tranquilizer darts could still be so lively.

This was even more astonishing than dodging bullets or blocking them with true qi.

Their commander at the distant command post, having witnessed the same scene, grew restless and impatient, ordering: “Open fire! Use live ammunition!”

Hearing this, the soldiers exhaled in relief, switching to real guns and preparing to fire at Wang Zhenling.

But just then, a chilling wind surged straight toward them.

Before it even neared, a cold, sinister breeze seeped into their bodies.

---

Having conducted similar purge missions before, the soldiers knew exactly what this meant.

“Damn it, how could this be? The target just died today—how could it have become a vengeful spirit?”

Panic erupted among them. They realized their bullets wouldn’t work against these spectral entities.

Their heavy bulletproof vests with protective plates were useless against the ghosts!

Though these soldiers were elite veterans from special forces worldwide, they were suddenly thrown into chaos.

By experience, malignant spirits only emerge five to seven days after death.

How could there be a vengeful spirit when the target had only just died during the day?

Little did they know that this was all thanks to Wang Zhenling’s intervention.

He hadn’t anticipated being attacked at this moment, so he had commanded the ghostly entity to strike these soldiers and divert their attention.

He never imagined it would be so effective. The soldiers were utterly terrified of the ghost, thrown into complete disarray.

Then, the vengeful spirit formed from Mr. Ma’s essence charged into one soldier’s body.

The soldier’s face twisted as he foamed at the mouth and collapsed weakly.

Seeing this, the others dared not approach to help; fear overwhelmed them even behind their masks.

“This is possession!” Wang Zhenling sneered. He certainly wasn’t foolish enough to stand by and watch.

Taking advantage of the soldiers’ panic, he closed in steadily.

Only then did the soldiers realize Wang Zhenling had drawn dangerously close.

Firing wildly at that range was futile.

In their panic, some bullets even struck the soldier already possessed and lying on the ground.
