Chapter 137: Leaving the City of No Bounds
Ji Yao rushed forward, supporting Mu Baiyun and letting him lean half of his weight against her shoulder. Her divine sense swept through her storage pouch, searching for any medicinal pills that could be of use.
"Senior Brother Yun, how are you? Are your injuries severe?"
Mu Baiyun's face was covered in sweat, and the strands of hair framing his temples no longer lay neatly, sticking to his damp face. The disguise Ji Yao had applied for him lost its effect, gradually revealing the delicate and refined contours of his features.
His lips had lost their rosy tint, showing a pale, exhausted whiteness, and his robes were stained with blood. For a moment, Ji Yao did not know where to begin.
What was even more distressing was that Ji Yao discovered the medicinal pills in her storage pouch were only suitable for cultivators in the Foundation Establishment stage and were of no use to Mu Baiyun.
Just as Ji Yao was considering whether to pour a drop of Millennium Jade Nectar down his throat, Mu Baiyun retrieved a bottle of pills himself.
"Junior Sister, do not worry, I have medicine here!"
Ji Yao hurriedly took the bottle, immediately pouring out three pills, intending to stuff them all into Mu Baiyun's mouth at once.
Seeing this, Mu Baiyun was left between laughter and tears, and quickly stopped her before she could carry out her intention. "Junior Sister, only one is needed."
"Oh? Oh!" Ji Yao obediently returned two of the pills to the bottle, then picked up the remaining one and hastily shoved it into Mu Baiyun's mouth.
Her action could hardly be called gentle; it was rather reckless. Mu Baiyun even felt Ji Yao's fingers brush against his lips and touch his teeth.
Mu Baiyun could not describe his feelings at that moment; he only felt his cheeks burning with an unusual heat, a myriad of strange emotions lingering on his lips and teeth.
Unbeknownst to him, the skin on his face had regained some color, a faint blush quietly creeping up, completely unlike his usual composed self who never showed any emotion.
Finally sighing inwardly, Mu Baiyun spoke, "Junior Sister, do not worry, I am fine. It is just exhaustion and some superficial wounds; nothing serious."
Ji Yao could not tell by looking, nor could she check with spiritual energy, so she could only use her divine sense to scan him. Indeed, she saw only a few superficial wounds. Once the bleeding stopped, aided by the medicinal pills and nourished by spiritual Qi, they would heal rapidly.
"As long as you're fine! You have no idea, I almost cried just now." Seeing that Mu Baiyun was alright, Ji Yao felt like joking. Her nerves had been taut for so long, and it was time to unwind.
Hearing this, Mu Baiyun struggled to prop up his upper body and turned to look at Ji Yao. Sure enough, he saw that her eyes were red, with glistening tears welling in her sockets.
His heart softening, Mu Baiyun naturally raised a hand and gently wiped away a stray tear overflowing from Ji Yao's eye with his fingertip.
"It is my fault for making Junior Sister worry."
A sudden exclamation thoroughly shattered the mood.
"Ah! Stop rubbing my eyes! We just passed through the sandstorm, and I didn't have time to cast a cleansing spell. Some sand got into my eye and I haven't gotten it out yet!"
